New Ween - "Israel"

That Mel Gibson thread took a turn for the religious, which can be expected when you give a bunch of anonymous, opinionated people a series of tubes.

So I'm gonna take this opportunity to give a shoutout to "Shinola" Vol. 1, the first official Ween b-sides CD, originally released on Chocodog about a year ago.

Shinola finally gets US distribution on 9/19. The album's more cohesive and enjoyable than one would expect of an extra-brown rarities collection from Gene and Dean. It's no Quebec, but maybe we'll hear some of these odds 'n ends live in Grant Park this weekend, so all aboard the Poopship Destroyer.

Here's a track we're dedicating to Mr. Gibson. It sounds like it might be a bootleg from Dean's Bar Mitzvah!

Ween - "Israel" (MP3)

Whoever makes the most cogent argument in the Israel-Hezbollah debate gets a free copy of "Shinola" Vol. 1. Use your real e-mail address in the comments if you want to win, so I can contact you for your snail mail.

Yeah I should've said 'religious.' Though you know what Gibson was getting at with his crazy comments.

Re: this song not being new, yes it's (1) an old rarity and (2) 'Shinola' came out a year ago and is being released next month. As it says in the entry.

The thing is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it’s over

(please read the whole thing before making saying anything) I'll start off by saying...How can you negotiate for peace when the other side doesnt even recognize Israel's right to exist? Some might say Israel is going a little to far. Fact of the matter is, that even though Hizbolah is operating in Lebanon, they do not represent the Lebanese people or government, at least not most of them. So, by destroying the infrastructure of Lebanon you might be hitting Hizbolah, but you are also killing lots of innocent people and really destroying the country. In my opinion, by doing that you are creating enemies just as quick as you are killing them. Not much can help recruiting more for these groups then images of a stray Israeli missle that hit a bus with women and children. On the other hand, how long can these Israeli people sit by and get fucked with over and over again? The Lebanese people may not be Hizbolah, but they dont seem to be doing much to get them out of their country. When it comes down to it, the Israeli people can live perfectly fine with arab neighbors. But since some of those same neighbors vow to destroy Israel and are willing to act on that promise, the Israelis think they are justified in using very aggresive measures to protect themselves. Some, including me, would say they are going after the wrong country. Syria and Iran control Hizbolah and supply it with funding and weapons. I would be much more down with going after one of them. Let me make this clear though. I've lived in Israel for a few months and I support a strong and safe Jewish state. I think they are justified in attacking Hizbolah, and I think the pullout from Gaza was a fair move given whats been going on there the last few years. Its backfired though because all of the land given up is now being used to launch rocket attacks at Israel. At this point, they might be taking it a little to far with the bombing, but I really feel uncomfortable judging them on that, given that I do not currently live in Israel and do not know what its like to live in fear like they do.

First of all, I will not speak in defence of the Islamist militants. I do believe Israel has the right to exist but I do not think that violence is often very effective at ending violence. In fact, I think it's millitary actions like this that inspire people to go blow themselves up and fly planes into buildings, certainly more so than the "fact" that "they're jealous of our freedoms". Keep in mind, most militant muslims see the US and Israel as one in the same. Why shouldn't they. When the rest of the world attempted to pass a resolution in the UN, condeming Israel's attacks in Lebanon, one country blocked it with a veto and that lone veto came from The United States. These same militants know that the bombs and other munitions that are killing men, women, and children in Lebanon and The West Bank (not to mention Iraq) are all, "Made In The USA"!
Interestingly enough, just a couple months ago two professors, one from Harvard and another from the University of Chicago, published a paper that said the Israel Lobby had a supprisingly powerfull influence over US foreign policy and that this influence was often contradictory to US intrests. They even went so far as to suggest that if not for Israel's influence we would have been less likely to go into Iraq. I should point out that Sadam never made any significant threats to the continental US that were legit but he had threatened Israel and had fired SCUD missiles into Israel during the first gulf war. Ofcourse these two professors were immediatly attacked by "pro-Israel" Americans who claimed they were just anti-simetic. What else were they going to do, agree with them. From what I could tell these professors weren't bashing Israel, they were just raising questions. Is that unAmerican? This latest military action now threatens to drive gas prices even higher (certainly not in the US's best interest) threatening an already weak american economy.
Israel says that the people of Lebanon are suffering because of Hezbollah and they are only trying to inspire the people of Lebanon to end their support of Hezbollah( By bombing their cities???). The Govt. of Lebanon has been considered corrupt for some time now and is thought to do very little for the people of southern Lebanon. What many people don't know is that Hezbollah has been providing MANY social services for those same people for a long time now. This is why the people support them. Israel claims they are going to "turn the clock back 20 years" on Lebanon. The real question is, "Can they bomb the hate out of these people?"
This is a classic case of two cultures that have so deamonized each other that they can no longer see each other as human. They even see the other sides children as monsters or at least monsters-to be. This is just an easier way to justify killing them, wheather it's suicide bombers on one side or large scale military assaults on the other. This is why they can't solve this problem on their own and they need an unbiased or at least, less biased outsiders help.
The conspiracy theory in all this origionates in the speculation that Israel has been looking for an excuse to do this for some time now. Yes it may be a back door attack on Iran however the Middle East has tons of oil but what is far more precious there is water. Everyone knows that people can live without oil. What they can't live without is water. What most people don't know is that the vast majority of Israel's water flows out of the mountains of Southern Lebanon. Israel's recent actions may or may not get rid of Hezbollah but what is undeniable is that it's causing a mass migration out of Southern Lebanon. Maybe it's just coincidence but this is likely to remove a huge strain on Israel's water supply and it wouldn't be the first Israeli incursion into Southern Lebanon over water rights. Look it up and judge for yourself.

Did Mel also blame slavery on the darkies? Or the Khmer Rouge on the yellow?

And speaking of darkies, Ween went Hezbollah on Red Rocks this past saturday, taking the whole place hostage and turning those red rocks a deep dark brown.

Overheard quote of the show: "I didn't know you worshipped Satan".

As for the middle east, does "free palestine" mean the same thing as "destroy israel"? I've been meaning to ask those kooks over in Union Square for a while and haven't gotten around to it.

But here's the deal: until pushers for peace embrace all parties involved unconditionally, there will be war. People say PEACE and then hold a flag for palestine, or Israel, or Lebanon. If you really want peace, you have to support the people under all flags.

Unconditional peace. Eraticate paranoia.

Fuck poopship, i don't want your damn shinola.

Here's my two cents:

This conflict makes no modicum of sense without looking at the temple mount. Extremist Jews, Christians and Muslims see the Temple Mount as important. It is the holiest site in Judaism -where they think the Messiah will arrive. Christians believe Jesus will return their. Muslims see it as the third holiest site. So the reason why it's so hard to have peace between Arabs and Jews is because
many religous extremists want Jerusalem, especially the Temple Mount, for themselves.

Israel-pull back now. They have done excactly what Hezbollah wanted. Never said Rice anywhere ever again. Inform Bush that he is an Idiot and that the Chinese Prez turned Bush's mic on to show the world just how stupid the guy is. The people of the middle east, including Israeli's want this all to stop. Leaders just have to fucking listen. Dead kids are never fun.

I'm not going to take sides in this. Not in the comments boards at least. Just thought that maybe you could post Human Leagues' much under-rated track "The Lebanon". I'm surprised that no other blogs have jumped on it. It's from their album Hysteria, which is better than you'd think. They wrote it last time Israel invaded ...

World Resolution 666 (Israel)

Due to Israel’s constant Murdering of the Palestinian people and illegal land grabbing without justification.
Due to the United States and United Nation’s inability to control this Zionist Nazi Regime due to it’s Nuclear threats on the US and abroad.
World Resolution 666 must be implemented as follows.
Since Israel is in defiance of the world’s request’s to stop the occupation and Murder of Palestinians, A World War against Israel is required under this World Resolution 666 (Israel).
We know it is not just Muslims who are against Israel’s defiance.
Therefore anyone is an acceptable partner in this war against Israel Terror.
It is important that this is not a war against’s the Jewish people of the world.
This is a war against Israel and supporters of Israel Worldwide.
Communication for this group using non moderated chat rooms will be a good starting point.

1. For every Civilian killed by ANY Israeli someone in the group will kill an Israeli or an Israeli Supporter somewhere in the world. (AIPAC and USA Elected Officials that support Israel are A PLUS and can be a great starting point in America. (A simple internet search in your area will give partners the ability to locate targets in their area)

2. For every illegally occupied settlement unit built, we will burn down the same amount of property of ANY Israeli supporter throughout the World.

3. For every prisoner abducted off occupied land, we will kill one Israeli supporter since any prisoner held by Israel is usually killed anyway.

4. For every rape we will kill one Israeli supporter.

5. For every account an Israeli injures someone, we will kill/Injure one Israeli supporter.
(Note) The killing versus injury under decision of the partners protection of eliminating the witness if discovered.

6. Items 1-5 are to be backdated 40 years if after 10/31/2006 Israel has NOT agreed to back off onto their green line border by 4/25/2007

7. Any Amendments to World Resolution 666 (Israel) are open for addition.

8. The War Starts Today !

P.S. Who wants to be the Leader?
