New What Made Milwaukee Famous - "Resistance St."
There are a lot of things Milwaukee's known for, so we've always thought it nice of Austin's 'Gum showcase alums What Made Milwaukee Famous to keep it so open with their Wisconsin-y moniker. We're not that great with Milwaukee place names (or Austin, outside the SXSW strip), so no idea if "Resistance St.," the first MP3 from their sophomore album What Doesn't Kill Us, is a real place as well as a metaphor, but one thing we are pretty sure about: Michael Kingcaid & Co. have never sounded so Radiohead-y before. Seriously. Listen to those dramatic vocal soars (wait for the effect used on the first slow, less accompanied vocal part), moody but strong guitars (and keyboards), and those complex, whirlwind exit horns.

i thought their name was a reference to a song by...the talking heads or....gang of four or something? this would be more meaningful if i could remember the band name. but there is a song by an older band called 'what made milwaukee famous'.
