New YACHT - "See A Penny (Architecture In Helsinki Remix)"

AiH and YACHT are known to dip into each other's troughs: they're tourmates; YACHT was one of the many (many, many) tapped to rework Architecture's killer "Heart It Races"; and we're pretty sure they both like rainbows and stars (just like Jack!). With all that mutual, cross-continental love going, it's no surprise to see the Aussie sextet try their luck with "See A Penny (Pick It Up)," and they take the one-cent jam for more than just a nominal tweak 'n' mix. Kellie Sutherland's voice is the first to take Jona's lyrics for a spin to a Devo style beat, and it's more sweet "Nothing"s and ADD fun from there.

YACHT - "See A Penny (Architecture In Helsinki Remix)" (MP3)

Enjoy.

stereogum is ok, but the fact that you continue to post about Yacht when there are 500 other bands with SOOO much more talent makes me wonder if PR companies do pay you to post. this guy sucks. period. i've seen him live and he's terrible and his songs try SOOO hard to be cool when they are not. please stop the madness!

Wow. the person who made the comment above really has no idea at all. I feel sorry for whoever it is. Keep it up stereogum! AIH are bringing YACHT to Australia for a tour late next month and i'll be there to witness it and im sure it will be the best.

This should be a match made in positivity heavan, but with AIH's crappy new Super Mario Bros./calypso ott this is a ruination of one of the year's best pop songs.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
