New Benoît Pioulard Video - "Triggering Back"

Benoît Pioulard is Thomas Meluch, and his Kranky debut Précis is full of surreal folk, with plenty of textures in odd places from things like bells and dulcimers, mostly performed Thomas himself. We're not blown away by his record, but the winning moments have us keeping tabs on the kid. And we mean "kid"; the young lad's '84 born, so much more to come. Here's his new vid for Précis standout "Triggering Back," appropriately set in an odd-tinted forest.

Benoît's made our other favorite track available as a free download. Well-worth grabbing.

Benoît Pioulard - "Palimend" (MP3)

This album is so amazing. "Palimend" is one of my favorite songs of the year.

Not that Benoir Pioulard isn't awesome or anything, but why hasn't Stereogum picked up on/noticed that Frank Black has released to brand new songs/videos on You Tube? I guess posts about Britney's baby factory are more relevant.

Yeah this album is fantastic, and from what i understand he played ALL the instruments in fact. Good to see him on the 'gum!

"We're not blown away by his record,.."
Stereogum, i'm dissapointed in you. you place gwen stefani on the suggest list but you're not 'blown away' by this amazing record.
sigh

P4k put Benoit on their infitine mixtape and then trashed him in a very similar post (come on 'gum! - stop copying) and in a poorly written review. Is anyone editing anything online these days or it's just a writing free for all? I mean whoa - don't get behind something cool and creative! You might lose your indie cred Boyscout patch! This kid is better than the Shins...and 10 years younger to boot.
