New CFCF - "Monolith"
CFCF is Montreal's Michael Silver, a very busy remixer who's touched up HEALTH, Sally Shapiro, Justice, Spank Rock, and many more ceteras. You've sampled one of his solo compositions before with "Crystal Mines," and today's track comes from a forthcoming full-length of originals titled Continent. It's titled well, "Monolith" being an evocative name for the mostly minimal motorik groove that eventually opens up into an expansive synth-washed house track, pop-funky piano solos and all, nearly five minutes in. If you have seven minutes of listening time to spare, grab it:

Continent is out 10/27 via Paper Bag, preceded by The Explorers EP (featuring labelmate/remix fodder Sally Shapiro) on 10/6.
You also need "Invitation To Love" from the flip of their "You Hear Colours" 7" on Acephale. The hook is that same Alan Parsons sample we loved on Quiet Village's "Pillow Talk."

UPDATE: Here's another from Continent. Fleetwood Mac cover...

One of my most hotly anticipated records. I've been following Silver for awhile now back from his humble days on Hipinion and I love his stuff. Can't wait to get this on vinyl.

"Invitation To Love" was a fake soap opera within the show Twin Peaks. It would be on the TV in the background of a scene. Such a great reference, I haven't thought about that in a long time.
