New Dinosaur Jr. - "I Want You To Know"

thubmnail icon: New Dinosaur Jr. - "I Want You To Know"

The reunited Dinosaur Jr's picked up where various Dinosaur lineups let off, making solid songs that sound like Dinosaur. Only this time it's the original guys doing it, and there seems to be a bit more passion than some of those later-period J-only outings. No, the mid-tempo "I Want You To Know" doesn't hit as hard as the band's vintage best, but it's not so slouchy either: Think of the mellow, still guitar-raring sound of "Out There," albeit with Barlow on bass. It comes from Farm, J, Lou, and Murph's fifth album together. Yes, the one with the great artwork, stoners.

Farm is out 6/23 via Jagjaguwar. In the meantime, if you want some more, here's "I Don't Wanna Go There" live. You can buy it on a 7" if you catch the guys during their current tour. It's backed with "Tarpit." Both songs were recorded during the band's Pitchfork.tv feature.

I don't love this song, but I'm still hopeful for the new album. Beyond was probably the best reunion album... ever and "I Don't Wanna Go There" fucking rips, so I have reasonably high expectations.

One of the few bands out there right now, in my most humble opinion, allowed to do whatever they want

Song and voice sound a bit like Pete Yorn. I love the song btw!

Did someone just compare J Mascis with Pete Yorn? My goodness what has happened to music fans these days...

Praise Jah, between this and the new Sonic Youth record, it's old people with loud guitars FTW!

I actually really like this song, but I'm so easy to please.

J Mascis would be cool if he cut his hair on one side and dyed it black like Pete Wentz.

Pretty good song and all, but doesn't it sound a bit like "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns N' Roses? hahahh
