New Fol Chen - "Cable TV (Liars Remix)"
A couple weeks ago we gave you Rafter's remix of Asthmatic Kitty electro-pop labelmates Fol Chen's "No Wedding Cake." The Highland Park, CA sextet's AK debut Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made is out today, but before you hear the group unadulterated, we have Liars' remix of another album track "Cable TV." If you haven't listened to the original, you might assume Angus & Co. added that sitar, but no ... they didn't. Instead, Liars make their imprint by turning things into a whisper, mixing in some flanged echo, introducing a cut-up, and piling on a racket of additional sounds. For instance, check out the upfront percussion toward the end, when the song almost disintegrates. That's them, too.
