According to the NINWiki page, the statute invoked by the BOM (§ 24.12.2) was also found on the back of a NIN tour shirt in Germany, which seems to be the spawning place of most of Reznor's cryptic antics. I say the it in a walmart also. I wroted the number down and went home to call it. It caused me not to buy the CD (which I love NIN) and also I called a higher up in Walmart trying to find out why they were selling this crap. Then I found out later it was a joke. I sorry, I did not think it was funny at all. It also was very disturbing to me and my son. I get what NIN was trying to do but, not funny. It got my blood boiling about it.

Some of the NIN fans posting blogs may have been there to see NIN open up for Janes addiction back in 1991. NIN has been around for along time. There were part of a music revolution that has since faded away. The results and aftermath of that revolution has left us with crap like Arcade Fire. The only indie thing about their music is that it independently lacks talent and creativity. 16 years ago Arcade fire wouldn't have been worthy enough to carry most bands instruments to a stage. But for the majority of you posting blogs, 16 years ago was a time when most of you were taking naps in kindergarten while some of us were out experiencing the music that open the doors for the independent music scene to become popular culture. Ok you can attack now.

I'm with ya brother, except I've tried my hardest not to let my ear for indie music ossify with age. Not that I think Arcade Fire is "the shit", but ya gotta keep checkin' out the new stuff. I'm sure there were a lot of '80 indie punkers who thought NIN were dreck, and THEY were indie rockers when you and I were running around kindergarten in cords and polyester.
Also, to the parent whose blood was boiling. Trent's "statement" is only funny to those who have been watching for years with an increasing sense of fear and sickness as the American Empire tightens its moralistic grasp on the world. It IS scary, especially because the US Bureau of Morality, or something like it, is not too far away. If it wasn't plausible, people wouldn't be thinking it is real. The fact that it IS plausible terrifies me.

I bought the CD today and had a good laugh with the USBM thingy ... also the color changing blew my mind. I'll always buy NIN CDs, not because I'm indie, but because I think Trent has done some wild shit on his PC and actually MADE IT in the musical world. I mean.. wtf does he think all day.. i think he's a psyco with an apple laptop .. like those you find shooting kids at highschools. I find it fascinating.

it makes even the louder stuff seem almost ambient. *ACK* Still a unique sounding CD, even with the slight Pretty Hate Machine throwbacks on track 5. The color changing thing rocks!

Why can't we hear all music, rather than just labeling some as the "real" thing? There a lot of people out there that laughed at Bauhaus and Sisters, yet they were the forefront of all music we now know! The Ramones, would be going nuts with all this. Now if your talking about the pop groups known only for the singer, and the band doesn't matter, then that's different. Trent embraces all things as an instrument for his music! He wouldn't be where he is now if he didn't! He has given other bands thier way, and he is open to new ideas and change! And yes he has always played the instruments in his creations! His band is just for performance, can you imagine what a concert would be like if he did it all himself?? Along with this amazing mind of his, comes a unique look at life and people! The most brilliant people in our worl have always been a bit odd! Einstien & Mozart led very unusual lives!
I hope you all can learn to accept. Trent only pushes away those who follow the herd! Those who live life how others, especially the Bible, tells them to. People who don't question! His work doesn't harm anyone. I questions everything, doen't mean I hate or hurt. I just don't except everything for face value!
