OKX: B-Sides

If you checked the ID3 tags of our song-for-song cover of OK Computer, you saw a note promising b-sides. And indeed, we've got a couple. But first: we're glad so many of you enjoyed what you heard! Although, this being Stereogum, our first commenter has "never been much of a fan of 'OK Computer.'" Of course.

For the rest of you we've got Northern State's take on "No Surprises." The Strong Island trio took our ears by surprise with the sweet, Luscious Jackson-y "Away Away" earlier this year, and in that spirit the Tegan & Sara tour partners get their harmonies on with a faithful take on OKC track 10. (Marissa beat Hesta Prynn in our Over The Top-style indie-rock arm wrestling tourney, so Miss Nadler got first download privileges.)

Northern State - "No Surprises" (MP3)

Next week we'll give ya a true b-side: a cover of a tune from the Airbag/How Am I Driving? EP.

Refresh here all weekend long for reports from the 2007 Pitchfork Music Festival, and -- if we're lucky -- fashion tips from Bradford Cox.

I was never a Radiohead fan, when I heard Karma Police from their album OK Computer i fell in love and went on the perilous journey of collecting every last one of their album. so i have to say The tribute to Ok Computer artist line-up is fucking amazing

So, it's pretty obvious that you people at Stereogum love music and you're passionate and all...
But what a silly site. The writing is right about high school level. And you really gotta do something about titles, in general.
OKX? What a stupid title, a real grabber! The layout and graphic design is just LAME. But, oh well, I'm just pointing out the painfully obvious. What do you expect from something called "Stereogum"?
lol

I actually think most of these covers are shit. Still, it's a good bit of fun. I want to hear some (good) "Polyethylene"!

I haven't listened to this track, In fact I've never heard of radiohead or northern state and I only ever listen to radio 4 anyway but I thought I'd post here to tell you that the colour scheme of this site is awful, you should do it in a nice magnolia. I'm sure you're grateful for my highly educated input.

i'm with Jeff on this one. sometimes reading the comments on here makes me want to stay away... to disassociate myself, i guess.

great site, annoying readers (or at least the ones who comment).

but yeah, this was a great tribute project. much appreciated.

haha... so true JP. I really enjoy Stereogum's content (despite the *awful* color scheme!! Sheesh) but sometimes abstain for weeks at a time because of the obscene douche-baggery in the comments. Oh well, I guess that's the internet for ya. It's a lot easier to be an asshole if you don't have to look somebody in the face.

As for me, thanks for the good work, Stereogum. You can ride Radiohead's dick as long as you want.

This project is genius. Now if you can get Lucky Soul, Andrew Bird, the New Pornographers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Feist, and Von Sudenfed to cover Rush's "Permanent Waves" (Entre Nous, Jacob's Ladder, Free Will, The Spirit of Radio, Different Strings, and Natural Science respectively), my life will be complete.
