Poison Try To Bring "SexyBack," And Fail
Nothing says "we know we're done" like an eponymously titled record in the past tense, so open up and say hi to Poison'd, on which the voluminously follicled glamsters don't even try to write anymore, instead going the relatively innocuous route with covers of Bowie, the Stones, KISS, and the Cars. Just what you needed? Not quite, we know, but this muscled-up cover of Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" is a funny listen, if only to hear the hair band's misguided nü-metal-y spin on the dance track's hook. Have a listen here. This track is only available on the Walmart version of the LP, which is the most appropriately lame detail of all. And, we figured one frighteningly out-of-date pic deserved another...

After the jump, the vid for the first single from Poison'd, on which Bret and the boys take on the Romantics' "What I Like About You," and prove only that C.C. never stopped doing his drills during their hiatus, and that yearbook photos will dance enthusiastically to anything.

I'm ok with Poison becoming a cover band.
Their time was years ago anyway.

How ironic is Cyanide: the Poison cover band at Otto's wedding..
But hey, someone's got to play state fairs, cruise ships, and the grand opening of Chucky's Junkyard Emporium (just 12 minutes off interstate 64).

You know who becomes cover bands? 40 year-olds dads who are bored with chemical engineering and college grads who find out their music degree is useless. And Poison.

VERY INTERESTING!!!!!!!!!!!
Last April, Poison rocketed into the Billboard Top 20 with the #17 debut of the band's 20th anniversary hits collection, The Best Of Poison: 20 Years Of Rock (Capitol/EMI). The 18-track hits collection was soon certified gold, and Poison tore through the summer of 2006 on their highly successful "20 Years Of Rock" North American concert tour.
Poison, one of rock's most iconic and enduring bands, returns to Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart this week with the #32 debut of their new EMI America Records/Capitol release, POISON'D!. Released June 5 on CD and digitally, POISON'D! sold 21,401 units in its first week. Starting tonight in Greenville, SC, Poison will hit more than 50 U.S. cities this summer on their "POISON'D! 2007" tour. The national tour, with RATT joining Poison for most of the dates, includes stops in and around New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Washington, DC and other major tour markets across the country.

Am I the only one who thinks their SexyBack cover is far superior to the original?

No you aren't, historyman. I think it's better than Timberlake's.
It sounds like it's tailor made for that market of tuneage played behind Rachel Perry's voiceovers on (fill-in-the-blank VH-1 show).

Dave Camera/Camara must be a self-appointed Poison Sschtreet Team leader.

The CD is fun...Not a classic by any means...still a good time...And if I remember correctly, a lot of bands do cover cd's...

I think The cover was sweet - It's so true about who becomes cover bands - I was in one of those categories myself! And yes, the cover is better than the original - I guess it's something about the way the album was produced (JT's) that makes me wonder if my sound system is jacked up - too much distortion, but POison did it good.

Some of you missed the whole point of Poison even in the 1980s. They were about over the top FUN and GIRLS and PARTYING. This was the 1980s, and in the 1990s it was about no fun and no solos. Here we are in the last part of the 2000s and lookie there, some guitar solos are showing up in music again, even grunge/emo bands are getting tired of whining and everyone wants to be the Killers now.
We all get old, and no one can stop it.
Finally it's not shameful for bands to have fun instead of whining about their daddy's lack of love.
Poison releases a bunch of covers that people enjoy. What would you say if they released a bunch of originals? Here's a hint they/you'd say Poison is still irrelevent and they think people want to hear their songs....People can instantly sing along with covers cause they know the words already.
News flash, the 1990s are over...let's get back to the 1980s. I predict all you 80s/Poison haters will embrace the mullet under a new name in 3 years...It happened with bell bottoms and it will happen to flannel someday.

Poison are a brilliant band.
Poison are like gods to you. You should worship them.
Justin Timberlake should be shot. He is unAmerican and unChristian and he is an Satan worshipper atheist gnostic.
He just wants to be Prince.
