Radiohead Announce Free NYE Gig

Except it's another webcast, and you'll be too shitfaced too enjoy it. But still, good news!

Here's the 411...

Via DeadAirSpace:

scotch_mist
Dear Reader

Hope you are having a peaceful christmas.

As you may now have heard we will be broadcasting a pre-recording of some songs and other bits on New Years Eve..
you will be able to view it online from here at midnight new years eve, uk time that is...

radiohead.tv

as well as other places that i am not sure about.

this is a wee celebration of the release of the physical manifestation of 'in rainbows'.

yours hopefully

Thom

DeadAirSpace indicates scotch_mist rehearsals have been going well, and smell like lemons.

Your favorite album of 2007 performed start-to-finish ... not bad. And a cheap way to ring in '08. Radiohead.tv broadcast happens UK-time, so you can watch it before you head to that Dirty Projectors gig... Ateaseweb recalls Ed O'Brien in the thumbs_down webcast promising more cover songs, one of them "most likely a track by Siouxsie and the Banshees." No word whether the performance will include CD2.

The physical manifestation of In Rainbows goes on sale via record store (anyone ever been?) 1/1. Spread the word with this futuristic widget.

Radiohead - "Faust Arp" (MP3)
Radiohead - "The Headmaster Ritual" (MP3)

More MP3s here.

In solo 'head news, the Jonny Greenwood-scored There Will Be Blood is in theaters today. Thom Yorke's Eraser remixes are out next month.

you want some news!
they nicked the graphics from this guy KiNo.

in rainbows new artwork comes straight from here.
Kino has been commenting on stanley's blog for ages, i found him through there. He had the artwork for ages and now he just finished his record.

for the sceptics i can assure you this guy is a genius, so before you open your mouth have a look.

@stereo tom: Kino sounds great! However, I couldn't find a date for a release for his debut album "Map Of The Universe". Perhaps you can fill me in?

About the art, I believe artist are always influenced by someone, even though the IR boxset art seems heavily influenced by the same likes as Kino or himself. If you take a good look at hodiaudirekton.blogspot.com where Mr. Donwoods project 'Hodiau Direkton' (todays direction) is displayed, you will see a lot of other influences.

I love how Thom Yorke always looks like he's about to do something very, very naughty......

MAP OF THE UNIVERSE isn't released yet. Ole.
It's unbelievable that anyway.
According to the information on the website Kino has just finished this record and not taking it to the industry. I think he is coming up with the live show in new york and taking the independent route.
I really like his shit. it's definitely original which makes is even more hard to find among the swarm of mediocre crap in a day and age like this.

As for the album cover. He did it himself. he calls it 'inner space' and it's a very cardinal point on the concept 'map of the universe'.

Don't forget designers steal. And we all know what stanley donwood has been doing in the past 10 years.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...
