Radiohead's New "Reckoner" Remix Is Up To You
But not before getting a spin from the pros. In announcing another "Nude"-styled project, Thom writes:
There's a Remix site going up tomorrow for Reckoner here>> To start things off we asked James Holden and Diplo to do their versions. Now the elements are already being passed around to other artists.. The elements of the song are soon going to be made available to you if you wanna have a go.. If it's anything like the Nude remix site it could get fairly nuts. We're off to Japan at the weekend.

...we thought it only fair to do the same with a tune that at least is in 4/4. You can get the stems (the different instruments/elements) from here.
Sample, cut, take the sounds, whatever. Play it in a club. Or your room. Then if you want you can upload your finished mixes to www.radioheadremix.com and be judged by everyone else. YOu can create a widget allowing votes from your own site, Facebook or MySpace to be sent through too.

Pretty forthcoming with those "Nude" download activity stats considering the relatively tight lips on the numbers for that little album release experiment that shook the music business, no? Anyway like they say, don't look a gift track stem in the mouth. Download 'em at iTunes. Billboard Top 40, here we come.

The string quartet one is really good even though it seems to only feature the lead vocal track. Then again, I downloaded this and Nude just so I could get the lone vocal tracks. Amazing.

Surprised they released Reckoner as a single. 15 Step would be a great choice.

I have to give Radiohead props for this promotion. I never paid $5 for a single before, but I did pay $5 for the Nude stems.
Then they sent me the Reckoner stems for free one week before they showed up on iTunes. I had to do another.

There's some good mixes up here and it's encouraging to see the Reckoner project has provoked such a high standard of entries. I was sent this the other day, takes a while to kick in but it builds to a beautiful atmospheric cosmic disco jam, something of the Lindstrom and Prins Thomas about it. Definitely the most original remix I've heard so far. See what you think:
