Reel Big Fish Cover The Smiths
OK, not everybody thinks it's OK to like ska, but for those that do, cover masters Reel big Fish are a pretty good reason. Maybe not for their original material, but the Fish have a reel knack for bringing palm-muted guits and skanked-out horns to some of our favorite tracks and acceptably ska-ifying them. And of course, any cover of The Smiths is gonna get Stereogum's attention. The last time Reel Big Fish tackled a Morrissey tune ("We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" on We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy) was iffy, but this one's rather awesome.
Reel Big Fish - Ask" (MP3)
The track comes from a split EP of covers by RBF and Zolof The Rock & Roll Destroyer; each band takes three tunes, and each tune features both Aaron Barrett and Zolof's Rachel Minton on vox. Other artists covered include Madonna, Fishbone, and Chips Ahoy spokesmen The Human League.
Duet All Night Long is out 2/20 on ReIgnition Records.

Are you kidding me? That's makes me want to fucking kill Reel Big Fish and then myself.

This is one of the worst songs I've ever heard. RBF take one of the greatest songs of the last 100 years . . . and quite possibly make me unable to listen to it again, EVER.
