Stereogum Late Night @ CMJ 2008

thubmnail icon: Stereogum Late Night @ CMJ 2008

Stereogum's 2008 CMJ event is a jam-packed show taking place midnight to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, 10/21. It's at the brand new venue The Studio at Webster Hall (yes, located inside Webster Hall). It's so new, our show takes place the first night it's open. It's also the first night of CMJ '08, so you shouldn't be too tired (i.e. no excuse for not staying until the end). Then again, we think the line-up's so good, it should keep you firmly planted there, even if you are getting by on fumes (like we will be).

Without further ado: Stereogum Late Night brings together longstanding avant-"House Jam" experts Gang Gang Dance, our favorite uptown shredding shape-shifter Marnie Stern, sugar-shocked Baltimore spaz-rockers Ponytail, and dusky, melancholic Brooklyn noise-poppers Crystal Stilts for a varied, seamless night of music. (The groups go on in the order we just mentioned them, so plan accordingly.)

The show's FREE, but it's RSVP ONLY, so head to stereogum.com/cmj08 and reserve your space. RSVP does not guarantee entrance, but it is required (it'll be first come, first served, as long as you have RSVP'd). One warning: It's 21+. Sorry people younger than 21, we'll make it up to you.

Gang Gang Dance - "House Jam" (MP3)
Ponytail - "Celebrate The Body Electric (It Came From An Angel)" (MP3)
Marnie Stern - "Transformer" (MP3)
Crystal Stilts - "Crystal Stilts" (MP3)

Spread the word on Facebook and LastFM.

i think Shaun is thinking of ILX or Idolator..heyooo!!

but any more information on The Studio? Where is it? If CMJ is going on, won't there be overlapping sets going on at Webster Hall? That place is already enough of a clusterfuck.

"Marnie Stern" is spelled wrong on the poster, but correctly in the post....

On a related note, I want to see Marnie Stern live more than anything.

Scott ---- "86% of Stereogum readers are 18-34 years old" is that true or are you being sarcastic as that's the advertising industry standard demographic....and if it's true why not an all-ages show?

We will definitely try to make the next one all ages. Sorry young people! (Shouldn't you not be out so late on a school night, though?)

Consider this show the reward for living past the age of 20.
