Stream The New Juana Molina

I'm so glad former sitcom star Juana Molina is making an impression with the MP3 bloggers. The fact that Domino's giving away three songs is certainly part of the equation.

Juana Molina - "Micael" (MP3)
Juana Molina - "Malherido" (MP3)
Juana Molina - "No Seas Antipática" (MP3)

Though I don't understand a word, I'm digging electro-folk Son as much as her American breakthrough Tres Cosas, which NY Times Jon Pareles put in his Top 10 Albums Of 2004.

Listen to the entire album at AOL Music and daydream you were in Argentina.

And make sure to check out "La Verdad" -- like Kate Bush Juana speaks bird.

Julieta Venegas is a Mexican Singer/Songwriter that is just as good, but not as folky, a little more electronic...

I'm sorry, but "Segundo" is far and away her best disc.

That's not to say that all of her stuff thus far isn't stellar, because it is. I just think "Segundo" is her particular high point.

Thus far.

I agree, Julieta Venegas is another artist who needs attention outside of the Latin Alternative market. Where before Venegas music was often compared to PJ Harvey and Bjork, now she's lightening up with synth-pop driven tracks on her last album, 2003's Si and now her new album, 2006's stellar Limon y Sal.

I agree with Tankboy that Molina's "Segundo" is incredible work.

Argetina has been perhaps the most prolific country in the history of rock sung in Spanish with great acts such as Spinetta, García, Soda, et al . Juana Molina`s is the biggest story in that tradition. Argentinian psy-folk meets electronica. She was quite a discovery ever since her first record.
