"Suburban Rapper" Samples Weezer, Weezer Announce North American Tour
![]()
Popular "suburban rapper" Asher Roth samples Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" in his debut single "I Love College." It leaked yesterday. It's been a long time since we've mentioned Weezer. The Morrisville, PA rapper (who currently lives in Atlanta) is signed to SRC records (see Akon, Wu-Tang, Remy Ma). Asher recently got his name out some more with the help of Don Cannon and DJ Drama via The Greenhouse Effect mixtape (you can download it at his site). He recently did work with the Cool Kids. OK, now that you know a bit more about frat rap, take a listen to the track while you read over the Weezer tour dates.
Asher also does Weezy via a cover of "A Milli," which you can hear at his MySpace. As far as the "I Love College" sampling material, Weezer themselves head on a Red-powered North American tour in September. The openings bands are Warped Tour favorites Angels And Airwaves and blog favorites Tokyo Police Club. The dates:
09/23 - Boston, MA @ Tsongas Arena
09/24 - New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden
09/26 - Atlantic City, NJ @ Borgata Casino

OK, finally got to the end. the chanting ("chug chug freshman freshman do something crazy") is maybe the worst thing of 2008.

If you're looking for some intellectualized college post-doctorate hiip hop, look no farther than MC Paul Barman. If you want some some white boy hip hop rapping about weed, try the Kottonmouth Kings. Or so I'm told.
Score = 2
Wow. Look at who he claims produced these songs. This can't be. These are knock off samples. This is beyond terrible. What an awful eminem impersonation.
Score = 6
This is actually worse than Shwayze.
Score = 5
man you guys are some hateful sons of bitches...listen to the Greenhouse Effect Mixtape *then* come back and talk ish
Score = -2
eminem? is that you?
i think it's laughable this guy thinks he's good enough to even try to cover one of Weezy's songs.
Score = 1
literally everyone and their sister have done versions of "a milli." it has nothing to do with how good he is, just the fact that he calls himself a rapper and it is the year 2008 requires him to do one. it's like a legal requirement or something.
Score = 0
I know this is overused, but seriously: LOL.
Score = 6
this is the worst. i hope i never hear "aaasssssssssssshhhher roth" ever again.
Score = 3
OK folks: you're trapped with either this or that Buckcherry song for the rest of your life. Which do you choose?

Just what the fuck is this Vanilla Ice / Kfed / Feminem / Fred Durst / House of Pain / MC Lars / Slug / Snow / KJ52 / Lady Sovernwhatever / Flobots / MC Ryan Adams / Jamie T / Jamie Kennedy wannabe bullshit? Less of this Asser Rott crap, seriously; just give us more of some new Streets jam, or even new Beastie Boys hip hop.

Somebody needs to remind this kid that Limp Bizkit still sucks and that raping a Weezer song does NOT make you cool. Oh wait, maybe I just did-- By the way: college WAS bad ass, but real life might rip this kid's balls off.
Score = 2
stop hatinggggggggggg wow you wouldnt be here listening ifyou werent interested

c'mon, is a tool with a visor and ray-ban aviators really that much worse than a tool in a fedora with ray-ban wayfarers?
Score = 2
I think that I just have utmost respect for the chap. It's such a calculated song aimed at such a maaaasive market. It'll be a college anthem for so many fools, and soundtrack a million TV shows about students. Pinching the "chug chug" thing is the cap of this man's "genius"... it's basically a 'melody' that millions of people know, but has (until now, probably) never been actually in a song.
I'm just in awe. Why didn't I think of this?!! :(

9/27 - Philadelphia, PA @ Susquehanna Center
Their website says that their 9/27 show is at the Susq. Center in NJ-- Not Philly--... Isn't the place in Philly called the Wachovia Center? Typo?

That's all I can say.
Wow, this is bad.
