SXSW 2009: Saturday's Sets To See

We're gunning for an early Saturday start. Because Saturday is Blank Dogs day -- the one-man Brooklyn bedroom BTW has a handful (almost) of shows spanning afternoon until late-night. But before that, Harlem and BTW Real Estate are over at Hot Freaks with Grandaddy Jason Lytle, Roadside Graves, Girls (and the Girls Vivian). You'll also need to consider the aforementioned Blank Dogs' 1:30PM performance at the Fader Fort. Wavves, who we've caught twice, follows. Or, commit to Mess With Texas if you want out of Austin proper. Our favorite of the day parties is Todd P's Woodsist event at Ms. Bea's, where you'll see a ton of excellent Woodsist-related acts like Outsiders Ganglians, caUSE-coMOTION!, Psychedelic Horseshit, Blank Dogs (what, again?), Eat Skull, Woods, Crystal Stilts, and onward. You get the idea. Dirty Projectors were excellent at the Pitchfork/Windish day party (more on that later), so you might want to catch them at the Press Here Garden Party. (Or, if your ears hurt, sit down at Esther's Follies or the Velveeta Room for a bunch of comedians.) Into the night, the Lovepump United/Panache showcase at Mohawk pairs Dirty Projector Angel Deradoorian, Past Lives, Pre, and Mika Miko (while BTW Clipd Beaks, the Mae Shi, and HEALTH people the patio). If you missed Blank Dogs earlier (what?), he shows up again at the Music Gym for the Sacred Bones show with Outsiders Factums, among others. Good luck getting into Stubb's to see PJ Harvey and John Parish.
