SXSW: Friday Featured Showcases

The Austin sun's especially strong today -- so much so, it's difficult imagining it setting enough to usher in the nighttime showcases. But it will eventually go away, so if you're here and looking for something to see, we have a few ideas. Sub Pop's putting on a solid show on the Bourbon Rocks Patio, featuring buzz boys Ruby Suns, Dan Boeckner + ~~fiancee~~ lovely bride Alexei (congrats kids) in Handsome Furs, and the always great live acts of Pissed Jeans and No Age. We know frequent commenter j wiggles o'reilly (aka the one who posts raps about the Smell scene) will be all about Mika Miko, Clipd Beaks, Apes et al at Lovepump's soirée. Classic indie rock lovers should check J Mascis and Thurston Moore @ the Mohawk Patio. Or if you're up for a lineup full of a inter-genre-rational goodness you must check the Ting Tings/Santogold/MGMT/The Cribs/Sia/N.E.R.D. at Stubb's. Just queue up now. Here's our full spread...
