Brad Mehldau Trio Add To The "Wonderwall" Cover Canon, Ryan Adams To Tour With The Guys Who First Recorded That Song

There are a lot of "Wonderwall" covers in this world, but we think the new Brad Mehldau Trio version's the longest. And maybe the jazziest. It's from the Trio's new live album Live, out now on Nonesuch, which is why you'll hear people clapping at the end. Plus, people just really like that song. Brad Mehldau Trio - "Wonderwall" (MP3)

Listening to this got us thinking about other takes on Oasis' biggest hit, including Ryan Adams's oldie. And, whoa and behold, he and his Cardinals are on tour with the old blokes. It's Oasis's first sets of live shows since '06...

And after all ... the dates:

08/26 - Seattle, WA @ WaMu Theater
08/27 - Vancouver, British Columbia @ General Motors Place
08/29 - Edmonton, Alberta @ Rexall Place
08/30 - Calgary, Alberta @ Pengrowth Saddledome
09/01 - Winnipeg, Manitoba @ MTS Center
09/04 - Ottawa, Ontario @ Scotiabank Place

Oasis by their lonesome:

09/07 - Toronto, Ontario @ Toronto Island Park (Virgin Festival)

Ryan Adams & the Cardinals by their lonesome:

06/19 - Telluride, CO @ Telluride Bluegrass Festival
09/07 - Boston, MA @ Bank of America Pavilion

We're happy to see Ryan could get off-line long enough to get this organized.

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...

Horse Feathers - "Father"

Portland songwriter Justin Ringle's evocative vocal twang and sharp lyricism are at the center of Horse Feathers' bedroom Americana. The band's second album House With No Home, which follows 2006's Words Are Dead, finds Ringle's vision fleshed out by multi-instrumentalist/composer...
