The 'Gum Drop LXVIII: Hear New Appleseed Cast, Win A Crosley Turntable

thubmnail icon: The 'Gum Drop LXVIII: Hear New Appleseed Cast, Win A Crosley Turntable

In February, longtime California-to-Kansas post-rockers the Appleseed Cast will release their seventh studio album Sagarmatha, the first since 2006's Peregrine. We're told "Sagarmatha" is Nepalese for Mount Everest, which makes sense, considering the epic constructions of their songs. Take for example this week's Drop, "Raise The Sails." We asked singer/guitarist Christopher Crisci about its sailing themes and the tradition of sailing in indie rock. Read his responses while you listen.

Sagarmatha is out 2/17 via The Militia Group. A little before that, the band heads out on a US headlining tour. You can get the dates at their MySpace.

This week we also offered the chance to win a Crosley CR40 Mini-Turntable.

One person takes home an Ion turntable, along with a copy of Eulogies' new EP Tempted To Do Nothing on VinylDisc, which means one side is a vinyl and one plays like a CD. Welcome to technology. You can get more info about Eulogies at the L.A. rock quartet's website or their label, Dangerbird. As far as the turntable, here's the lowdown:

The Crosley CR40 Mini-Turntable comes complete with a 3 speed belt driven turntable that plays 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM records and dynamic full range stereo speakers ... It may be mini, but it packs a big punch. Today the Crosley name lives on with superbly detailed replicas that truly transcend time. True to the Crosley tradition, this replicas is as fabulous as it is functional, providing a delightful dose of nostalgia. This Crosley Mini-Turntable brings the same great technology and design that our larger turntables and entertainment centers encompass but scaled the size to petite. This Mini Turntable features classic styling with handsome hardwoods and veneer housing and technology that proves its authenticity as a Crosley.

It will look like this:

And if you lived in this room and were listening to Kid A, it would look like this:

One winner gets the turntable and the Eulogies VinylDisc: Enter now. There's also still a few days left to enter to win the the limited-edition Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica box. You can sign-up for that one here.

CONTEST ENDS 12/31/08 AT 12PM EST.
