The 'Gum Drop XLV: Hear New Alias, Win A Crosley Traveler Turntable

thubmnail icon: The 'Gum Drop XLV: Hear New Alias, Win A Crosley Traveler Turntable

Last summer, Brendon Whitney, aka, Alias, left Oakland and returned to his hometown of Portland, Maine. Resurgam, his first solo full-length since 2003's Muted, is out 9/2 on anticon and includes collaborated tracks from WHY? and the One AM Radio and a Latin title fittingly translated, "I Will Rise Again." The dreamy, dense, skittering, synth-drenched "Crosswalks," which premiered in this week's Drop, won't be on it. We spoke with Alias about the song and what can happen in crosswalks. Listen and read here.

We also offered the chance to win a Crosley Traveler Turntable and a vinyl copy of My Morning Jacket's Evil Urges.

One winner takes home a Crosley Traveler Turntable along with a copy of My Morning Jacket's Evil Urges on vinyl. This is what the turntable looks like:

You already know plenty about the beloved Evil Urges and MMJ's recent career-defining Bonnaroo set, so get Sec Walkin and sign up to win. You can get more info about the turntable at Crosley. Sign up to win here. Also, rather fittingly, there's still time to sign-up to win the $100 Insound gift certificate in celebration of their Summer Of Vinyl. Do that here.

CONTEST ENDS 07/23/08 AT 12PM EST.

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
