The 'Gum Drop CIV: Hear New Castanets, Win A Where The Wild Things Are Skateboard Deck, iPod, And CD
Castanets, aka Ray Raposa and a shifting cast of collaborators, is about to release Texas Rose, The Thaw, And The Beasts via Asthmatic Kitty, but you won't find his haunting cover of Hank Williams' "Rambling Man" on it. The previously unreleased take on the classic debuted in this week's Drop. It's one of seven Williams' covers Raposa recorded this past year, though he can't imagine playing Hank in the upcoming film version of the country legend's life: "I feel a bit more of a kinship with Bocephus." In the song his voice is amplified very well to sound like he is actually rambling, and it sounds really good. Goes well with the heavy, yet laid back music. Also awesome art on the skate decks!
