The decade-old Australian pop quintet Dappled Cities are releasing their third album Zounds 9/15 on Dangerbird. In this week's 'Gum Drop we spoke with co-guitarist/co-vocalist Tim Derricourt and debuted the dusky, grandiose synth-rocker "Answer Is Zero." You can learn about new math, the distance to the sun, and what it feels like for someone from Sydney to wander NYC while you take a listen to the track.

We also offered the chance to win a 16GB iPod Touch courtesy of UK synth darlings La Roux.

One winner gets a 16GB iPod touch filled with the sounds of British '80s-influenced electropoppers La Roux. the iPod will look like this:

The British duo of Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid debuted with a self-titled full-length the end of last month on Polydor in the UK (there will be a US release via Cherrytree in September). The new U.S. single "Bulletproof"'s accompanying EP came out digitally last week and includes remixes by Dave Audé, Manhattan Clique, Tepr Tsunaimee, Zinc, and Lagos Boys Choir. You can take a listen at La Roux's MySpace. In anticipation of their U.S. crossover, they're trekking around North America for a number of shows, including All Points West:

07/28 - Seattle, Washington @ Chop Suey
07/31 - Toronto, ON @ El Mocambo
08/01 - Montreal, QC @ Osheaga Festival
08/02 - New York, NY @ All Points West Festival

One winner takes home the iPod, but you need to enter to win. You can also look into winning VTech IS9181 Wireless Music Hub.

CONTEST ENDS 08/12/09 AT 12PM EST.

Finally a badass prize. I mean the odds of me winning are extremely slim but a 16GB iPod Touch would be really nice.
