Weird Al Takes On James Blunt

Last week I suggested "You're Beautiful" should be retired, Gnarls style. Even James Blunt's sick of the song ("This is an award for the most overplayed record of the year," he admitted at last month's Ivor Novello Awards). Until then, here's the next best thing: Weird Al's parody.

Stereogum hasn't been amused by Weird Al since "Smells Like Nirvana." And this tune ... well, let's just say it's not going on the iPod. But if you're curious: "Weird Al" Yankovic - "You're Pitiful" (MP3)

"You're pitiful / You're pitiful / You're pitiful it's true / Never had a date that you couldn't inflate / And you smell repulsive, too / What a bummer being you."
Lyrics via Spin. Wonder what Al's next target will be. I hope not "Crazy."

Speaking of crazy: THIS IS AL and wife Suzanne at their wedding.. [Oops -- that was apparently a joke photo.]

The real reason Coolio was mad at Al?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the sight of James Blunt and the sound of his voice terrifying. I hate that song so much that now I love it.

You need to check your source there. There are photos from Al's wedding on his official site photo gallery and that's not what he looked like. The photo you posted appears there with the caption "The official wedding photo?" It's a doctored photo joke, because in all the other photos, Al clearly has his trademark kinky hair. The previous poster is a genius because check out this photo of Brad and Jennifer (linked to my name).

Otherwise, LOVE the site, dahling.

But didn't he cut his hair a few years ago? Or is this doctored too?

He's wrong, though: the most overplayed song of the year is the Had a Bad Day song by Daniel Powter.

Been wondering what my "close, personal friend" Al's been up to. His last album 'Poodle Hat' was parodying Eminem, Avril Lavigne and The Backstreet Boys, for god's sake!

I haven't even heard the clean version of that Beautiful song. What does Blunt sing instead of "...F-ing high"?

Wow. So it’s come to this. Weird Al attacking the already disempowered and defenseless.

Blu, he says "flying high."

Lol @ Evan - I totally agree with anyone who says that they hated this song so much that they love it now.

I like the JB parody from the British show "Dead Ringers" where an overweight 40-something "James" sings about how all the cool British singers (Robbie Williams, Morrissey, etc) dare him to jump into a swimming pool in the snow to prove that he's cool too.

I hate James Blunt and his stupid high, whiny singing voice. And his stupid video where he takes his shoes off and sits there with snow falling...uuuugh.

Thank you, Weird Al.

James Blunt has one of the ugliest faces I've ever seen; it's kinda retarded looking.

But I wouldn't mind smoking his surname!! haHahaHa hAHahahaOGMOGMG

Good observation on Meme's part. "You Had a Bad Day" is definitely the new "You're Beautiful." I expect to hear that song a lot when I graduate next year.

you gotta love al mocking the begining of the song, when he sings that line early.

and no..he did not cut his hair. that was a wig.

I don't see how you all don't like James Blunt. He's amazing, it's awesome how he can hit such a high note for being a guy, this is a pretty funny song too. James Blunt rocks in my opinion.
