Willie Nelson's Gay Cowboy Song

I know, yesterday's news.

On Valentine's Day, Willie Nelson released "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly (Fond Of Each Other)" exclusively on iTunes. Sample lyric:

Cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other/What did you think them saddles and boots was about?/There's many a cowboy who don't understand the way that he feels for his brother/Inside every cowboy there's a lady that'd love to slip out.
"The timing's right for it to come out," the country icon said in a statement.

The song's actually 25 years old. Written by Ned Sublette, it found its way to Nelson in the late '80s.

So Willie's timing is dubious, but it's sorta cool that the tune reached iTunes' Top Ten Downloads today. If you're curious what the fuss is all about, get it on iTunes.

Otherwise, history lesson:

Hats off to Willie. This makes up for that duet with Jessica Simpson.

The song release is GREAT I think. I actually have the chance to be in the music video. We are showing that there are LOTS of gay men(and women) out there and we are not going to stand by anymore. We want to show that anyone you know can be gay...You NEVER know! This is just the beginning.
