Muse + 120% Pitch Shift = Gwen Stefani

File under: Fun With Real Audio.

Via b3ta.com: "This is how Muse sound when you apply a 120% pitch shift. Coincidentally it is exactly like Gwen Stefani."

Oooh, do "Muscle Museum"!

Hey ag, why do you even bother commenting if you are going to say something so fucking stupid? Who cares? Apparently you. You cared so much, in fact, that you were compelled to make your insipid, and pointless, post.

hey chris. are you insinuating that comments should only be left if there's something favorable to say? i don't see any entertainment value in the original post. doesn't diminish my opinion.

With all due respect, I don't think yours is an opinion at all. If you don't care about this story, move on to the next blurb. And if you don't care about that one, go read another blog. But it's not very productive to read something and think, "oh, who cares" and then actually POST "who cares" in the comment section.

ok, point taken. perhaps i could've chosen my words more carefully. my intention was to try to understand what people are getting out of this original post. i think the comparison to gwen stefani is a tenuous stretch at best and, as a result, i find the original post to be just as pointless as you found my initial comment.

i skip over plenty of posts that i don't care about. this one i did care about, which is why i commented. "who cares?" refers not to the existence of the original post, but the attempt at drawing the connection between muse & gwen stefani.

AH! change the pitch to the lowest setting with "what're you waiting for" and automatically muse covers the song.

Yikes!!!! Holy fuck I cannot believe how manly Gwen sounds pitched down. I am currently pissing my pants.

Awesome, but who does stuff?

And duh, she's gonna sound a bit masculine when her voice is toned down. That's the whole point of pitch-shfting...to make a voice sound deeper or more masculine.

Pitch-shifting a man or woman approx. 20% up or down almost automatically turns them into a woman or man. Pretty much uncanny almost every single time. Still doesn't mean I'm not totally fascinated by it. This "Hella Good' thing is awesome.

As for the Muse->Gwen thing, I think it only sounds like her at the beginning of a couple of the lines, and moments here and there. The timbre is pretty similar, but the singing style is way different past the breaky, breathy intros. Amusing coincidence, though.

hahaha i didn't expect it to be so true. my roomate even perked up from across the room "is that gwen stefani singing muse?"

What's really amazing is that you don't have to pitch-shift Muse at all to have them sound just like Radiohead, or U2, or any of the other dozen bands they shamelessly lifted from. Their new album is astounding in its unoriginality.

that's freaky, really, whoever found this is a genius

and those that see this as an opportunity to have a dig at muse, what's the point? everyone has different tastes in music, how about a bit of respect for other people's tastes? kthxbye.

they rocked at leeds last weekend.

just FYI, i was a different chris to the one arguing up there haha. oh well

gotta respect that some people like muse and some people don't, no point in saying "they suck" and stuff, just like there's not much point going "OMG MUSE RAWK" cause this ain't the place

that video still is amazing haha
