My Super Sweet 16

Did anyone see this last night? (Eliza made me watch.)

In the premiere, Lauren's daddy couldn't get Beyonce to play her Sweet 16 for less than a half mil. Fortunately Unwritten Law were available for less. And they're like, totally the next best thing!!

Nice to see Pauly Shore back on MTV, though.

I caught the tail end of this show last night and I saw the girl who had her party at the Hard Rock Cafe and after only five seconds of this girl I totally wanted to smack her upside her head!

And I saw the preview for next week's show and I wanted to smack all involved with this show in the head.

Unwritten law? I love bands that change entire line ups and keep the same name. They're like the menudo of pop punk.

i can't believe i wasn't PLANNING on watching this! it came on after real world and it was incredible.

"GUNS N ROSES... I BET WE COULD GET THEM, TOO!"

"Nicole Kidman wore these?...hehehe....that's funny."

seriously, best 30 minuts of reality tv i've seen in so long.

I caught the last 15mins of this show when the two girls were shopping and getting ready to have their party together. This had to be one of the worst reality shows I've ever seen(yet I continued to watch it anyway)How the hell do these people get on tv?! Rich, spoiled little brats! Did you see when one of them was yelling at her dad to go find her Gucci shoes w/ matching bag?! Who are they and what do their parents do for a living that they have that much money and were trying to get Beyonce to go to their party?! I love how the bff's had to "share" their party and dress alike and all that. I would bet in a year or so one of their boyfriend's will cheat on them with the other and that will be the end of that friendship! Where does Mtv come up with this crap, it's a music channel...PLAY MUSIC!

Just reading the excerpt, I was feeling nauseous, but when I read that one of the girls who put on the party got punched in the face when sucked into a mosh pit, well, that made me feel a little less pukey. Welcome to the real world, kids!

And coincidentally, Unwritten Law have a new album coming out real soon, and Pauly Shore has some shit storm project on the Horizon as well. Gee, I wonder if MTV fronted this bill?? These shows are just the next level of product placement for a buch of has-beens and the bitchy, spoiled 16 year olds who still get excited about them.

How come MTV doesn't do a similar show with teens from the ghettos of the my states of this country? Oh I know, struggle isn't interesting; having enough money to talk to your parents like they are your servants, that's interesting! What a bunch of fucking penis wrinkles!

so what is the point of this to a 15-year-old watching this show? Are they supposed to laugh at these girls like the rest of us or wish they could be these girls? Let's hope it's the first choice.

Well actually Pauly Shore has a movie coming out called Pauly Shore is dead, and its all about how people hate him and so he pretends to die and comes back as someone else. I think that's interesting and really, did everyone here hate In The Army Now? that movie is funny.

And yes the show made me angry but only out of jealousy...I know and I admit I wish I was that rich, everyone does. But I don't think I can watch it again because I was that furious.

What do you mean that UL has totally changed their line-up? They started in 1992 and still have the original lead guitar and the singer, while they added Steve Morris when he was 16. John Bell, the bass player, left because he wanted to go back to school. Wade was fired because of his stupid acts and they have a new drummer. You act like they have had 20 or 30 people in the band. Poor kids. Of course they don't realize it now, but the pathetic display of parenting on that show suggests that these kids will have serious, emotional problems as adults, particularly when confronted with the reality that things don't always go your way, money can't solve all problems, and most people (unlike their parents) are repulsed by whining.

Good luck girls. Make sure to get your parents to pay for therapy when you're older.

I thought the girls were obnoxious, but not because they were rich, because they were actually obnoxoius. The part where they went through the yearbooks to pick who was coming made me want to vomit. I wonder how many people would've come to their party if it had been at a cake and ice cream affair in regular house? Not very many. People came to their party because they had a band and were spending a lot of money on it, and knew it would be an event, not because they actually liked the girls. I almost felt sorry for them....

i watched "my super sweet 16" while i was at work because this pathetic piece of shit i work with wouldn't change the channel. it was the one with the two girls having the party at the hard rock cafe. this, ladies and gentlemen, is what our world has come to. the parents of these two girls should be locked away for a long, long time. i don't envy girls like this, i almost pity them. they'll never know what it's like to live simply and define themselves by who they are and what they stand for rather than by the labels on their clothing and the cars that they drive. while the majority of young americans struggle to pay their bills, afford a college education, let alone pay for gas...these snotty rich-bitches get gucci shoes, dresses, bags...whatever the fuck they want for their 16th birthday party. give me a fucking break. why do we glorify wealthy bitches like this? paris hilton has a book on how to live like an heiress...like that will happen to any of you prissy little shits that actually paid money to own that book. why would you fucking do that? she's got hundreds of millions of dollars at her disposal, and you just paid 15 or 20 bucks to read what she supposedly has to say? she's famous for being a whore on camera and being on a tv show where she takes work for granted and treats people, like you and i, like shit (because she knows she's got millions waiting for her once it's done). why the fuck would you give her your hard earned money? so you can be like her one day? how fucking pathetic. how about we all stop watching "reality" tv and read a fucking book? and if you money-hoarding pricks want to call me a "hater" you can. i don't care. i know you're a souless piece of shit that would never survive without mommy and daddy's fat bank accounts. and if you ever make money for yourself, chances are it'll be because mommy and daddy gave you the capital so you could start your own business. that or you used mommy and daddy's business contacts and monthly stipends to start your own production company. so go take your diet pills and do your pilates so you can fit your surgically enhanced ass into the brand new SUV that mommy and daddy bought for you. fuck, people like that make me sick...

and to kate, the chick that posted on here on the 29th. you can suck a fat man's dick. if it weren't for you miserly fucking pricks demanding tax cuts/breaks, there'd be more money available for public education, health care, social security, etc. is it any wonder that the middle class is disappearing? i bet your parents support outsourcing american jobs to 3rd world countries so their stocks can climb 0.05% so they can buy your spoiled ass a new pair of shoes or a car. meanwhile, HARD WORKING families struggle to break even and support themselves. so while you strut your shit around town, think about the people that can't afford medical treatment or a winter coat to keep warm in the cold. remember, in the end, when you're old and frail and on your death bed, nothing you own is going to make you feel better or keep you alive. the only thing you die with is yourself.

and about rich teenagers "deserving" to be spoiled? i'm sick and tired of hearing people say that they "deserve" this, they "deserve" that. what the fuck do you "deserve?" what the fuck did you do to deserve anything? did you keep your legs closed for ONE WHOLE EVENING? did you give a dollar to the salvation army at christmas? you don't deserve shit. kids dying from cancer deserve something. people in south east asia that lost everything, deserve something. women who are raped and left for dead deserve something. people who work 16 hour days just to put food on the table for their families deserve something. i don't want to hear about how it's "their fault" because they didn't get an education. it's easy for you to say because chances are, you've never been put in a position where you HAVE to work and can't afford school. if you screw up, you have mommy and daddy to bail you out. if they screw up, no one can bail them out, they just have to bite the bullet and deal with the problem themselves. you try paying bills, paying for school, taking care of your kids, and working for minimum wage. you'd probably kill yourself. i absolutly hope and pray that your parents lose their fortune so you can feel what it's like to really earn what you have. maybe then you'd understand what it's like to actually "deserve" something.

AAGHHHHHH!!!!! MTV makes me so sick; the "reality" (gimme a break, these shows aren't reality) TV.. and the little music that's left is complete horseshit. I (unintelligently) decided to watch this asscrack of a show, and I was absolutely disgusted how rich and spoiled these bitches are. Man!! "Booohooo daddy!! I want the range rover..." OMFG!! Like a simple please, father, may I have a car for my birthday? I would really like one, and it doesn't have to cost you a trillion bucks, either?" But nooo.. "daddy, waaaaahhh!! I wanted the most expensive one!" WAAAAHHH. Shut the fuck up, bitches. I can't wait until you get shoved out into the REAL world and find out about manners, poor people, and how not to be stuck-up bitches. I hope you crash your range rover, you stupid spoiled piece of shit. Later.

All you snooty bitches riding around in your fancy cars with your fancy clothes and your stuck-up bitch sidekicks, you deserve to take a trip in your "Private leer jet" and visit the parts of africa where families are dying because of aids; or how about a visit to thailand and indonesia - if seeing the looks of depravation on the faces of the tsunami victims doesn't affect you in some way, then you really do appear as fucking bitchy as you do on "reality" tv. Go fuck yourselves with your billion-dollar dildos you screwed up whores.

and to "john gotti," you money grubbing penis wrinkle, why don't you TRY reading a book and getting an education. you're a moron. what'd you do, smash your face on the keyboard until you liked what you saw? i bet you REALLY managed "the blind mellons" and "brittiney spears." i bet she'd really rely on and trust a 20 year old san diego state student, that can't even spell her name (let alone figure out how to write a check or speak ENGLISH), to manage her money and business. i've stepped in many many many many puddles deeper than you. you'll never understand anything. so keep on wearing your rocawear and do rags you ghetto-wanna be piece o' shit. keep on trying to fuck underage girls...god only knows you couldn't get any ass over the age of 13. if you ("john gotti") read this, i bet you're sitting there thinking, "yo, dis kid is whack! imma show dis here hater what thug life is! imma come out from cali and pop a cap in dis dude's ass! fo' shizzle!" lol god you're fucking pathetic. you probably grew up in the 'burbs somewhere dreaming that you grew up on the streets in harlem. lol actually, what you should do, is go on american idol sometime and audition. i want to see you try and rap and then when you suck, try and beg your way into america's heart. i want to see you cry. i want to see you when all your hopes and dreams crumble. lol, i'd laugh my ass off along with everyone else that thinks you're destined to be a lifelong loser.

That spoiled little bitch ava had fake titties, which proves to be yet another reason to hate her. Fake boobs = insecurity. That's why she needs her $70,000+ range rover and her big, fancy party with the fancy clothes and blahblahblahBLECH! She needs to be top bitch of the crop..she thinks she's better than everyone else because she (or her parents) are rich, so she tries to show this by getting expensive things (from other people, btw).. and then she barely gives her parents a "thanks" after it's all said and done. That right there folks is grade-a bitch and I'm hating every bit of it. If I were her dad, I would have bought her a shitty geo metro and i would have told that stupid whore that she doesn't deserve what most adults can't buy. Then, she'd stomp in tears only to learn that I've disowned the stupid slut so she can go and live on the fucking street with the hobos. Damn right. Holla back. hahah.

User '?', your posts are definately smart and witty, but I really dont think theres anything wrong with watching these shows, its pretty harmless, if you don't take it seriously, its a laugh! My family isn't poor and we're not millionaires. We are normal. We are middle class citizens. Democrats. My room is beautiful. I occasionaly shop at designer stores. My family has regular cars (a chevy and a volkswagon). And you know what? No one really cares. Is all that stuff gonna give you a better chance at getting guys or something? NO. Guys don't really care about that. It's just like those pathetic girls that starve themselves. I mean its sick what people do to become so called "acceptable" in society. Whatever dude. Yeah, Ava acted like a total bitch. I mean, if I was on television, I wouldn't act like that. Why would I want people saying that I'm a fake stuck up bitch? And I would never treat my parents like that, thats just wrong. But whatever floats your boat.

I see that you feel anyone who is, in your opinion "ugly", is automatically deemed "a loser". Furhtermore, I find your "muslim/jewish combo to be highly disrespectful to both cultures. If you can't distinguish, don't try, and especially not those two. Woo! You would have angered alot of Jews (I myself am a Jew and I found that Jewish/Muslim comment to be extremely unnecessary) with that comment. In addition, who gives a fuck about her nose? The girl was a scumbucket bitch and you should be insulting her attitude and lack of manners, not her nose. Besides, you seem like you're a scumbucket bitch yourself, so why am I wasting my time with you on this forum? Anyways, fuck off, and goodnight.

Just because someone is rich, they don't have to be spoiled. They should be brought up to appreciate what they have been blessed to have. Really we shouldn't take this show too seriously and I hope is not a true representation of how the rich and priveledged really act. Eva was a beautiful girl but her rude attitude and ungratefulness made her very ugly. Seeing as how her parents are softees, she would've turned out spoiled if there were of average means also. This show is like the Faboulous Life of series on VH1 except these children (turning 16 doesn't make you grown) aren't celebrities. This will not be one my new favorites but its alright if you like seeing people go all out.

This is the most shittest show MTV has aired. Honestly I would prefer to watch a marathon of The Simple Life, because The Simple Life when compared to My Super Sweet 16, seems less scripted. What fucking message is this sending to girls? Ava is like what, 15/16? And she had fake breasts and dressed like a hooker. Jesus Christ. I mean, its ok to wear skirts and shit at that age or any age ( with the exception for like an 88 year old grandma ) its the style. . .but really a skirt that short for a 15/16 year old? Her parents of course are to blame mostly, they dont set much limits for her. Except for her mom that time she refused to let Ava buy that red dress. I gotta admit sometimes though its a guilty pleasure.

my family is well off and i turned out to be pretty cheap, actually. your family could have alot of money but how you grow up depends on the ups and downs u go thru, along with ur friends and the way ur respected. trust me, I KNOW THIS IS LIFE.

u dont chose to be born into a rich family, ur just born. secondly, i DEFINITELY KNOW AVAS CHEST IS REAL. cmon theyre not that big....ive hooked up with a few big chested 16 yr olds and definitely seen and felt them in their nakedness...did you see the shirts she was wearing that didnt push up her boobs(or make them somewhat seethru or cast dimensional shadows)? theyre def not small, theyre nice. her curvy body lends itself to grow like that with the perkiness, lift and whatnot.

DONT HATE on rich ppl just because things that cost more have the greatest possibilities. thats just economics and how demand works baby! living with luxuries is what makes life taste better when its good. when lifes bad, i dont think about my bmw or my designer clothes...that stuff def wont help. but goddamn if u lived my life ude understand the ideas of j lo and biggie - both claim that bigger bank accounts mean bigger problems. once yall come into some money, ull know and God forbid u judge this know

Reading all of the comments, I think the foundation of the problem here is not demonstrated. I have grown up in a private school and have also spent two years in a rather low class public school. First of all, let's make clear that what should be judged, if anything, is the person's character, with or without money. To criticize someone for having money is ridiculous. If anyone is immediately attracted to that conclusion, I think the best observation to note would be: the parents. Growing up with money is not the problem. The problem is raising your children with a lack of focus on morality and good character. The problem lies in a.) not paying attention to your kids. (a frequency with many rich / career driven parents) b.) spoiling your children and c.) raising them in a house empty of the good ole idea that you work for what you get. Unfortunately, kids who grow up with everything handed to them are never really tested in the area of self-actualization. Fear and failure and things as such are character building-and it makes it rather difficult for them to view themselves and life for what it is when they never have to worry of taking care of themselves. Children who grow up in this environment are raised to believe the secular lifestyle is the ultimate. They are raised to believe that their dad is a man of amazement because of his highly renowned bank account. They are raised to think that the richer and better looking one is, the more complete. Thus, using phrases such as "rich bitch" and such are rather empty statements- seeing as I've met bitches rich and poor ugly and beautiful. However, upon agreement with most, I must add this is quite sad that the modern world rejects the deeper things in life. Today's society is magnetic toward articificiality - and all I can say is- do not judge others. I suppose I am the only one who has noticed the absurdity in these arguments...consisting of, "You are a rich mother fucker and you should DIE!"- responded with, "You are on welfare and WISH you were me, hot bod, $3 mill trust fund, and all." In time, they will find their purpose. They will one day realize their faults in thinking life is about materialism. If you are living a true life, continue living and worry only of yourself. I leave with a breath of fresh air for all:

I hear, "If you got it, flaunt it". Mmmkay, I will.... but when I have it and decide to flaunt it, I will try my best not to look so "disgusted by a 2004 used Range Rover" or "Oh my god-so pissed that Dior is closed because I totally flew to Paris just to buy my dress here".... you know what I mean? There is nothing wrong with making a wonderful living for yourself and being fortunate enough to spend what ever your heart desires on... well, what ever your heart desires. I grew up in a very wealthy environment, but let me tell you the difference between me and Jane Doe on MTV's "brilliant" Super Sweet Sixteen reality show. And when I say brilliant, I don't mean it. The girls and boys on this colorful show express no value of what comes and goes... they say thank you (and that is all they can say) to their parents for throwing them an obscenely expensive party... I mean, what the fuck, did they hand feed hungry homeless children, win a nobile prize and graduate harvard in one day? They do nothing.. but get what ever they want - they believe this is the way life is supposed to be lived. Not so many morals, not so many values, not so much responsibility... everything these people probably lack, but because you and me had to work since we were 12 to save up enough money for a used car IF WE WERE LUCKY on our sweet 16... we know value. We had a simple party at a friends house with the people who mattered the most. We didn't pay so called "models" to dance for everyone. But, because we didn't have all of this... we think that way of living is so retardedly extravegant and we laugh and are upset at these people.. but, then again, that way of life is all they know. Hate this show, but love to watch it. Just like the whole MTV network. p.s. - MTV could really do without it.

Another comment - I'm reading some of this stuff you people are saying about how this is only a show and shouldn't be taken that serious. Okay. When my future daughter turns 16 and asks me for a Super Sweet 16 party.. I won't take her so seriously either. If MTV takes the liberty to produce a show of this nature... it will be taken the exact way it is showcased, get it? It would be hard to tell someone that these children on this show are really down to earth and only play it up for the cameras. You know who is laughing more than most of the viewers? The producers, writers, directors and many little MTV workers.. they laugh all the way to the bank. Well done MTV...well done profiting on more random reality TV.

MTV consistently creates television shows that give a plethora of mixed messages to viewers. With "Sweet 16", one gets the impression that, despite MTV filing this show under it's "News and Documentaries" department, that there is an air of admiration involved on the part of the producers. Subtle sound effects (the characteristic shimmer sound given to shiny things like SUVs and whatnot) and flattering coverage of these parties shows us so. So while there are a lot of problematic themes to be uncovered, MTV decides to let a largely uneducated public attempt to determine what those currents are. Unfortunately, the most easily deciphered messages are the lowest common denominator themes that have been mentioned above (i.e. wealth/popularity/image is all important in American society). I think MTVs refusal to and the general publics inability to untangle these webs of meaning are what make this kind of programming somewhat dangerous. Its sad to see that marketing and branding have worked so effectively that several posters have written suggesting that less weathly people have no right to "hate on" rich people. This again is a multifaceted problem. The primary issue at hand is that while the lower classes are told "don't covet," less wealthy people (and American society in general) are consistently bombarded with images through media and popular culture that make want and desire for that which cannot be attained a requisite component of the economic machine. Why else would a Dior dress be desirable other than someone (in this case the fashion industry and the fashion magazine industry...trust me, look it up) telling the public that it was desirable? This is how advertising and branding works. When left unchecked and, in fact, encouraged by celebrity culture and popular culture, feelings of want, jealousy, and resentment are the inevitable outcome. Throughout history, no one has liked landed wealth (except other landed wealth), and there's a reason for that; because if one was born into wealth, they never had to work for anything. Most people resent wealthy children because they will never know how difficult it is to put in a 40+ hour week at some shit job, pay bills, and live paycheck to paycheck. Furthermore, when rich kids' sense of entitlement is paraded around for all to see, it becomes one of the most offensive displays imaginable to working people. And yet, since the viewer is rarely equipped with the mental faculties to decode the messages lying under the surface, there can be confusing feelings of both resentment and want.

I do in part agree with Annie's comment that character should be a deciding factor in how we view these people. However, since we are viewing this on TV, editorial decisions have been made by the production team that help to create a character. This is important for several reasons. Modern audio/visual technologies allows producers to completely destroy temporal/spacial boundaries and create a narrative that is more suitable to the aims of the show. With editing, there can be a loss of context which would reveal more fully the character of the person involved. In other words, there is no way of knowing what was left on the cutting room floor can reveal about the actual events.

It's pretty offensive to hear wealthy children (that's right high schoolers, to everyone else in the world, you're still children) say how others shouldn't hate on them for being rich. The working people of the world have every right to hate you and bitch at you; after all, somewhere in your families past, your fortune was made off of their toil and complete lack of anything close to what you now possess. Kill yourselves.

MTV created this show for one reason: to catch attention thereby attracting MONEY. MTV is a business, and like all other businesses, they work to make money. Create, work, produce, accomplish, make money. Do not blame MTV for creating a show that is making HUGE ratings in television. It is not their fault that the modern society is very secular. For you to scold MTV would mean you would have to scold the entire modern world, even starting with Andy Warhol, who gained attention and profit through portraits of "important," "wealthy" and "socially renowned" people- such as Marilyn Monroe, Jackie O., etc. You would have to excoriate basically the entire modern media- journalism, t.v., movies, literature, most importantly- music. Lifestyle obsessed magazines such as US, Star, etc. and musicians such as ALL RAPPERS, t.v. shows such as The Swan, Life and Style, even the Apprentice, Simple Life, etc. All of these things are driven by the glistening gold of either money, extravagant presentation, materialism, or appearance. The world today is interested in these things, generally speaking. It's the "American Dream" afterall. Make it as big as you can, work your way up until you have reached ultimate success, that of course measured by the bulk of your pocket. Why is Paris Hilton successful? Why is she known? She is RICH-and so I've been told-beautiful...no other reason. This speaks loudly of our society, and this is what we eat up. Did you notice how one of the most recognized episodes of Oprah was when she gave away cars? Did you notice that rich girls (a.k.a socialites) are so "important" that they are written about in the NY Post? Did you notice that "Fabulous Life Of" is so popular, that they have covered nearly 100 if not more people? MTV is capitalizing on this bullshit, and they're doing a great job at it! If you can't beat them, make money from them. As for MTV and it's failure in denouncing the absurdity of its show- I absolutely disagree. I watched this with my boyfriend and throughout the whole thing, we were discussing what a MAGNIFICIENT job MTV did in editing to make these kids look like complete jackasses. I even read where the blonde bitch from hell, Lauren (first episode) wrote into a newspaper claiming the way MTV edited the show made her look horrible. Bravo, I say- because, you are horrible. MTV is profiting off of these unfortunate kids- and laughing their asses off while doing it. I give props to MTV for this one- not only is it an incredibly successful show, but it sure makes me say, "G'damn-- that's a sad level of society I NEVER want to embark on." Tune in tonight for lots of laughs! NATALIE WANTS TO BE POPULAR! Oh, the intensity.

Like many have already said, most aren't jealous because these girls have money. I feel for these girls because they have lost total touch with reality and it falls on the parents. These parents better be prepared to support these girls lavish lifestyles from now until they die, because they will never function in the real world.

The whining is the worst part of the entire thing. That's what makes the show utterly annoying and disturbing, but again that all falls back on the parents.

After watching this show, all I can say is that it’s offensive to its very core. The idea of someone believing that he or she deserves a Range Rover for no apparent reason and then go off on a tirade because her dad would not buy her that car is beyond me. Isn’t America based on meritocracy? Wasn’t the American dream based on hard work and diligence? This show is utterly disgusting. The problem with these girls are not that they are affluent or rich, the problem is that they lack morals. Any person with morals would know not to bash their own parents. For those more “fortunate kids that claim to deserve everything, all I can say is “good luck to your journey into the real world. Anyways I don’t want to waste any more time on this ridicules show. If you want to rebut my post please use more intelligent response than just saying “you’re jealous of my money!

I'm in the midst of planning my party. I'm going to start from the beginning. Lauren: She wasn't even turning 16. She's 18, and she's now a college student. She said the party was "nothing special" even after her parents shelled out 100k. Jacqueline: She seems nice. She loved the party. She actually did turn 16. She reminds me of a younger version of Kristin Davis, herself, and she also reminds me of her character, Charlotte. She took the time to thank all of the people who helped make it happen. Jacque: She seems a bit prudish. I'm not sure why she was so against Mardi Gras. I live in LA, and Mardi Gras is fun. I highly doubt that her party will help make her anymore popular. She didn't even invite the popular people. Her crush, Chad, was super ugly. What was up with that flippy hair? Plus, her party was like revenge against the cheerleaders and jocks. What's that all about? I hated her dress. I understand simplicity, but you only turn 16 once. Ava: What a bitch. Did ya'll see the beginning when she was like at that club, and she was sitting on that guys lap with her legs wrapped around his waist? Plus, she had on a skirt. Eww. How trashy and (un)classy! Those dresses that she tried on were like something that I would expect to see on the red carpet. A little extravagant for a sweet 16. I liked some of them, though. I cannot believe she actually snuck out and went on a weekend escapade with her cousin and boyfriend-unchaperoned. I would never reward my child for devious and mischievous behavior. You have done wrong so you get a $70k car. It's like what the hell. She treated her parents like so wrong. Had that been a black person doing that, she would have gotten slapped. I'm black, and I know my parents don't play that mess. I would never call my mom a bitch on national television. My ass would be six feet under. Hart: He seemed like a loser. I got the impression that he was like trying to buy people's attention and affection. Like those 10 girls. He bought all of them shirts. Just so they would come to his party. Natalie: I got the impression that the people of La Jolla didn't like her too much. I think she was trying to show them up. She spent $900 on that dress, and it wasn't even all that cute. She was like no freshman at my party and blah blah blah. She was irking me with that. She's like a sopohmore. She did so much bragging. She was like these are Chanel sunglasses. So what? Anybody can buy Chanel glasses. Even I have a few pairs. My parent's have money, but I don't brag about it. I don't go running to Daddy when I don't get what I want. I don't tell my parents that if they don't give me car, I'm never going to speak to them again. I don't force them to buy me anything. I do have a taste for the finer things in life. I also work for the things I want. Do I have to work? No. I choose to. The girls on these shows are showed as shallow. Not all rich people are like that. That's a horrible depiction. I overall enjoy the show because it gives me inspiration for my party. I don't plan on spending that much, though. I loved it on the one with Hart when his dad was like it may be your party, but I'm the one spending the money. I was like hell yeah. I also loved it when Ava's mom cancelled her credit card. I really loved the envious look on Lauren's face when she saw Jacqueline in those dresses. Priceless. Well, I have nothing more to say. Feel free to send your comments to me at Naughtygirl0802@aol.com I am more than willing to respond. Oh, and I am not hating. I have nothing to hate off of. I have it all: family, friends, love, money, confidence, intelligence, and so many other things. I don't need money to make me feel whole and at peace with myself. I have all the things that money can't buy.

Think about it you stupid fucks sit there and watch it to come on here and spend a hour critizing them for bullshit. Think about how long they filmed them for and how much they showed. They put probably 3 months into 30 minutes. Who would want to watch a 16 year old girl be nice to her parents? im sure they all were obviously unless ur all fucking perfect then u don't bitch at ur parents. but be fucking realistic if your fuckin hating on these people for being rich then your a fucking joke. everyone loves money and everyone has money some people just have more. To everyone on that show keep you heads up these people just don't expierence the shit rich kids do and thats too bad. you fucks writing shit on here have no respect for them and you havn't even met them. they aren't disrespectin you so don't disrespect them

These girls make it a competition... and it sucks that theyre making it a fad to spend thousands and thousands of dollars for ONE SINGLE night that will only last in a fragment of their memories! Money doesnt label the happiness people... and the sorry part of it is that... MTV and these rich young girls promote it! Its more sad to see the value of these people... and to see how shallow and ignorant of reality these people are...

Haha geez. I really get a kick out of some of these kids with comments like, "You don't know what it's like to be rich" and "You're poor- that's the problem, not our attitude." Quite frankly, I can guarentee you that most of the people on here who claim these rich kids are ridiculous have quite a few bucks themselves, therefore the "rich and proudddd" really need to refrain from the poor comments. Shows quite a lack of intelligence. As for the poor rich kid victim scenario, shut the living hell up. that's so pathetic. Not only should you visit a third world country, but you should take into consideration the idea that when an outrageously wealthy person is humble and nice, they are often highly revered. Take Oprah for example. Who the hell looks down on someone like that who HAS IT ALL- gives a lot and seems so down to earth? In the end, none of us die with money- why place importance on it in terms of deciding your place in the world?

it's not the money these kids have, it's the attitude. Hell I watched "Rich Girls" and loved it. Both those chicks were hella rich, entertaining, and about as down to earth as a couple of teens should be. The sweet sixteen kids are sad, the only thing their money can't buy them is celebrity, but I guess MTV's going to spot them their 15 minutes... I'm sure la jolla can hear the clocks ticking. Anywho, I'd rather see a real celebrity's birthday bash, these are just a bunch of teeny boppers hoping that by monday morning they'll finally be popular. (Lord, please go bitch/beg/borrow/buy/charge a clue!) There's more to life. But I guess there is huge entertainment value in watching people buy friends and social status, too bad their personalities aren't good enough to get those two things for free.

Five bucks to anyone who knows what product MTV is in the business of creating, and who they are selling it to. Anyone?
No...MTV is NOT in the business of selling programming to you.
No...MTV is NOT in the business of selling advertising to you.
Give up????
YOU are MTV's product. MTV is in the business of selling YOU to advertisers...and they do that by creating programs they know you'll watch!
Thus, the mixed messages in this particular "gem" of a program.
Sure, there's all kinds of ways to interpret this show...from youngsters who admire the girls portrayed on it, to people who laugh at it, to those who become irrate about it...MTV explicity makes it appeal to the widest number of people possible because itdoesn't care WHY you watch it...as long as you WATCH it.
So please, PLEASE, if you hate this show...if it truly offends you...(as it offends me)...if it disgusts you that this kind of materialism is being heralded and these simple, simple girls are actually being EXPLOITED....(as well as all the poor, working stiffs watching at home!) then STOP WATCHING IT!!!!!! Refuse to but products advertised during it's airing.
Join me in demanding quality, enriching programming on TV, instead of this cheap-to-produce garbage that promotes negetive stereotypes and intollerance of the differences that exist among and between us all.

I think MTV has really used these teenagers to their advantage. To all these young folks who were on the show, MTV protrayed you at your worst. When your 15 or 16, popularity, money, clothes, and the need to belong are so important. That's why rich or poor, kids want to be noticed and have a connection with their friends. The point of throwing an awesome bash is so that your friends will come and celebrate with you. Unfortunately, many of the guests who attended did not even know the birthday girl or guy. Maost teenagers are good kids at heart but need guidance along the way. At 16 everything is a big deal, so its not very wise of the parents to let their kids have so much control. To me, the show does not make these young people seem impressive or envied, instead their worst qualities and behaviors are shown on television so people can mock and rant on them. I don't know about you but I would never appear on a show in order to be called names such as "bitch," "slut," or "whore." After all, people who are "bitching" about you do not even know you! I just feel very fortunate that I am older and no longer need to behave or think like a teen. If I were 16 and watched the show, I'd probably be green with envy at how wonderful these parties looked. But, at 16 that's how I would have felt and no words or actions would have changed my mind. Sometimes only experience, time, and responsibility allows you to mature and remember what's important.

I know that everyone says this and all of you try to defend your case by saying you aren't jealous...admit it, you ARE! I am not the richest person in the world, I am happy, but even I am jealous of these people, AND I'm a guy! You all act like it is their fault that they act the way they do, they were born into a successful family and were well-provided for, where they were spoiled. How is that their fault? This show should make you see how it is to live like that and hope that you can be as successful to someday live like that also. I saw that someone said something about their parents struggling and just being able to break-even, why the HELL is it MTV or these girl's fault? Everyone has the opportunity to be that successful some just choose not to, like your parents. (no offense) Anyways, sorry if this offends anyone, but seriously stop trying to be jealous that these girls are hot, rich, whatever else just because you aren't. It isn't going to help you any. Be happy for them that they can be the way they are. I mean who on the earth doesn't want to be rich? So, get over it.

Things she said were stupid and bitchy, and it makes me sick to watch her and how retarded she is. Most of them are very spoiled, but don't "hate" on them because most of us are spoiled to. You don't have to have alot of money to be spoiled! It doesn't make you a bad person if money makes you happy either... it's just the way you carry yourself once you have it. So how about everyone quit bitching about the show and watch it for what MTV made it for... entertainment!!!

We have to stay strong when dealing with society for it's a HUGE problem..but we have to focus on other things going on in the world to or it will kill us all. Agreed?

this show is retarded. why would we want to watch daddy's-girls get whatever the hell they want at their beck and call?

did you guys see the episode with ava? her mother took her all the way to paris to buy her a dress for her party! and when they got there, the little ingrate couldn't enjoy herself because 1. her mom didn't like the dress she picked out and 2. dior was closed.

these spoiled brats who have probably never left their posh neighborhoods do not deserve the lavish parties that they recieved.

i hope that when they go out into the real world, they fall flat on their faces, because their stuck up attitudes don't get them what truly matters.

Does anybody know what brand Ava's purse was when she was sneaking out to Santa Barbara*?

*Which i think is completely disrespectful because there are here parents giving her this huge party that some would kill to have and all this stuff, including going to paris for a dress and she just sneaks out cause SHE wants to.
