Naked Dude At Girl Talk Show: "Don't Tase Me, Bro"

According to a P4K report, someone aside from Gregg Gillis was shirtless at Friday night's Girl Talk show at Wash U in St. Louis. Later, said shirtless dude took off his pants. And then was tasered in the ass. They write:

Eyewitness reader Greg Sabo wrote in an email, "There was one 20-something (who seemed to be under the influence of something) who kept on causing problems. He threatened basically everyone around him. Attendees asked the bouncers to remove him several times, but they were basically unsuccessful. This person starting a lot of pushing bouts during the show. There were several chants by the crowd to get this one man out. He also jumped up on stage once after everyone else had gotten off."

Apparently, the bouncers finally got the word. Student Life reports that at 10:45 pm, the troublemaker was removed from the venue by security. "He then shoved a security guard and pulled down his pants." Sabo points out that "he was already topless." The Washington University Police Department was called. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the man exposed himself.

Student Life continues, "When WUPD arrived they repeatedly told the man to pull up his pants or face arrest. The student refused and an officer attempted to handcuff him. When the student struggled to resist being handcuffed, the officer pulled out his Taser and threatened to use it if the student did not comply. The man continued to resist and was Tasered." According to both Sabo and the Riverfront Times, the Taser gun was pointed at the man's rear end. The reader writes that he was Tased twice: briefly at first, then "for at least 10 seconds (maybe as long as 20)."

The tased and confused showgoer was a 22-year-old who goes unnamed at present. Of course the John Kerry situation at University of Florida has folks making sure the police followed proper Taser protocal, but we're pretty sure the nudity is prima facie evidence that the cops were all good on the trigger.

Sounded sweaty in there, and out of hand, and like every Girl Talk show we've ever seen. Yes they can be fun, but nobody even waits for a righteous beat anymore! They just bumrush Gregg's getup from beat one for a chance to wiggle in the spotlight.

And granted naked man was an anomaly (insofar as his pants came off), but does Girl Talk in fact have the most annoying fans? If not, then to whom does that dubious distinction belong?

Well, to be fair, the show was in a shitty room in the basement of Wash U's student center, and was free to all students, and it was a Friday night (which of course meant GT started with that awesome track), oh, AND there is no liquor license there, so I wouldn't judge ALL GT's shows on the basis of several completely fucked up and annoying Wash U students. I will say that said "tazered dude" was about the 3rd fucked up person I saw get thrown out, and the only completely naked one.

My only real regrets were not seeing someone choke on the free glow sticks all the kids were putting in their mouths, and not seeing GT play the after-party at the SAM house. I bet that was a total blast.

Personally, if a band plays dance music and targets a young demographic, it's pretty much a given that the fans will be annoying. It's not like they care that you are a foot shorter than them and can't see or that standing at the front of the stage means you are fine with being pushed and crushed. The only thing that bothers me about The Hold Steady's growing popularity is that the audience is skewing younger and younger, and at their last gig I was pushed, nudged, and crushed against the stage.

That all said, I'd far rather be at a show with younger fans than older ones; most of them bring a lot of great energy to a show, and they *move*.

Oh, and the most annoying fans are a tie between Phish and DMB.

Won't got to another GT show;
GT fans are lobotomized morons, for the most part.

Arcade Fire fans. Panic! At The Disco fans, Hatebreed fans, 50 Cent fans, Disturbed fans, and Clipse fans (album of the year my ass!) piss me off as well.

Rage Against the Machine. I like Rage, but they definately bring the meathead types out. All you have to do is look at what some of their fans did to Croweded House at Coachella. Most people are there to immediately start moshing and all of that early 90s crap.

Death Cab for Cutie fans.

AND...dunno if this is taboo, but Elliott Smith (RIP) shows were notorious for the "shh"-ing fans Vs. the chatterboxes.

The older I get, the less I want to put up with kids who were sort of a lot like I was at that age. I could care less about being up front against the stage, now.
Girl Talk here in Arizona was fucking nuts, however. Crazies all around, but not in a terribly bad way. There was this guy my friends and I kept referring to as "Guido"--he was the unofficial Girl Talk hypeman. Or he thought he was. Fucking douchebag.

Rage Against the Machine. I love Rage, but they definately bring the meatheads out in droves. All you have to do is look at Coachella this year and the throwing bottles at Crowded House. All they want to do is mosh and beat the crap out of each other. Half of the people really don't even listen to the message they are trying to get out.

The Girl Talk Show I went to a couple of years ago was one of the best shows I have ever seen, mainly due to the crowd's ridiculousness. I didn't know that this was common place, and I was frankly surprised when he started crowd surfing in sweated-through underwear.

I've only been to one Girl Talk show when they came to Ottawa with Crystal Castles, and it was the second best show i've ever attended (Flaming Lips @ Bonnaroo was #1).
Overactive fans are what's needed at concerts. Otherwise, its just people standing around with their arms folded. Which, y'know, is fine. But concerts are way better when people are totally energized to be there. Getting naked though, is a little bit over the top.

As for the worst fans, i don't know. Tool-heads can be really fucking annoying. Also have to add another vote to the Radiohead fans. They're totally worthy of their legendary status, but its like the fans are just there to look cool and tell everyone that they listen to Radiohead.

deathcab fans. when i first saw them, they had a good following. But post Transatlanticism, the fans got young and obnoxious. Deathcab for cutie is NOT moshing music.

I don't get the arcade fire post? I think that ryan adams fans are the worst. They were all yelling weird things at a show I was at. Knowing full well how tempermental he is and doing this reveals how irritating they are. I also think that clay aiken fans are an obvious choice.

I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for somebody to ask me which band has the worst fans because one time at a Scissor Sisters show I was sexually assaulted in the anus. Those SS fan homo bastards are at the top of my list.

Went to Modest Mouse last night and the fans were pretty annoying. The questions I have is, we are all going to these show of bands that we feel have annoying fans, but doesn't this, in fact, make us a part of the annoying fanbase?

How could this be a couple of dozen posts in and no one has mentioned Slayer fans!?!? Although the band has blown my mind many times in a live setting, the fans made me want to commit suicide for the simple fact that I shared the same genetic make-up as them. Maybe Slayer are too UNhip...but remember, everyone creams over Mastodon...so it's alright.

I saw Mono with High on fire a few weeks ago and can honestly say that High on Fire fans are the fucking worst. It was a room full of Jocks with tattoos and hoodies each trying to out drink each other. ugh.

The show the next night in Pontiac, MI was amazing though. As far most annoying fans, most people who go to see bands in a live setting are pretty fucking annoying, it doesn't really matter.

Fans getting up on stage and dancing is, like, the single most off-putting thing for me at shows. I'm not there to watch your dumb ass jump up and down: I'm already paying someone to do that.

Modest Mouse has some pretty awful fans. Couldn't even really enjoy the show. I went to see Deerhunter later that night in a tiny lil' venue just to get rid of the bad taste of a field full of drunken douchebags. Good to see that I'm not the only one who has had this experience.

don't you need to specify whether you're talking about Modest Mouse fans now vs. Modest Mouse fans six years ago? i would imagine those are two very different crowds.

watch that youtube video of the GT show...i'm sure at some point in my life i've been an active member of a crowd that obnoxious but jeez, you feel for the people running it.

"we're going to sammy's house!" made me laugh

The people running it *were* part of the obnoxious crowd, I assure you, and most of them were dancing on the stage before everyone was told to get off of it - it was at Washington University.

And AMEN to the Modest Mouse shout. I went to that show last week and left early *because* I could no longer take the uberhipster fans. Sad.
