Nellie McKay Buzz Continues

  • Boston Globe reveals the Jason Trachtenberg connection
  • "The Dog Song" gets a promotional flash movie
  • New York explains how to pronounce Nellie's last name
  • MP3 of "The Dog Song (live on NPR)" at nit-pick

If you're in Boston, I believe Nellie's playing tonight at Paradise Lounge.

I somehow stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago, and I've been reading it ever since. I wanted to thank you for pointing out Nellie Mckay. I listened to a few of her tracks, and a week ago, bought the album. I haven't purchased a new cd in over a year. Nothing has been worth it. But Nellie has such a different sound (although drawing on so many). I love it. Now I just have to make sure I don't play it too much and get sick of it.

My three big gripes about that list:

    1) Conan should be top five, or at least top ten.

    2) Maya Rudolph shouldn't be on the list. She's one of the weakest links of the current SNL cast. It should've been Fey or Forte.

    3) Ugh, sorry, I don't think Sarah Silverman is very funny. She's a total hack, very one note. There's nothing but petty anger to her material - she's lacking in substance, grace, and wit. She has moments here and there, but she's a marginal talent at best.

How did I miss that you gave me a shout out, when I read this blog every day? Interesting. Thanks, in any case.

I've known about Nellie for about a year or so, and then started talking to her at a recent show and think she's just adorable. I'm glad there's so much continuing buzz about her.
