New Animal Collective - "Water Curses"

thumbnail icon: New Animal Collective - "Water Curses"

At the end of February, we told you about Animal Collective's Water Curses EP, and showed you the band's creepy new pic. The fearsome foursome's currently streaming the EP's title track at MySpace, and it's a gurgling, uptempo jam. Remember the press release description we posted? To quote: "Opener 'Water Curses' takes an unexpected rhythm and throws it up, down and sideways to produce the sound of a smile..." Kind of an embarrassing description, but, well ... kinda.

well i think leaf house, grass, and fickle cycle are some of their best...the only good part about fireworks is that piano part in the middle

Really bad EP

I hope this Animal Collective fad ends soon, a 4.3 from Pitchfork should do it.

This is one of only three Animal Collective songs I've ever enjoyed listening to.

This is amazing. The video is webcasting on Pitchfork TV. It is the second best song of the year - the best one is Street Flash.

I have NO IDEA how you could dislike the song. It's absolutely bliss. The other three songs... kinda boring, but that's why they're on an EP, after all.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt
