very good song. very brit pop not musically but lyrically sorta reminds me of modern life is rubbish/parklife era blur.

This will be the song blaring out of Heathrow while people situate the liquids in their carry-on luggage to their checked luggage. Seriously--if I was a guest on BBC World's White Label, I'd say it's going to #1 in the U.K. But no, I don't really like it. I'll always go back to Hour of Bewilderbeast though...

I've heard that Mr. Boy is a big Springsteen fan, which may explain where the title and idea came from.

No secret that Damon is a big Bruce fan.

Shame this is such a weak offering, seeing as he's proven capable of delivering some real magic in the past.

It sounds like he's covering an unreleased Manics track. Does BDB think he's ready to become the British Springsteen now?

Wait. I thought we didn't start the fire. Did the Brits not start the fire, too?

Is Damon still relevant? After Bewilderbeast, I haven't heard anything from him that has even come close. On the contrary, the releases are geting progressively weaker.

It's a bummer. I still rank Bewilderbeast in my top 10 for this decade.

I've never seen this kind of drop-off in quality before. Air, for instance, change dramatically, and even though I wasn't a fan of their later offerings, I still realized it was quality. Badly Drawn Boy on the other hand has reverted to simple rhyme scheme, chugging sing-alongs, and basic recording techniques. Everything that made Bewilderbeast so magical is gone, and I'd go as far as to say that each subsequent release has proven that it was more fluke than skill.

Like a lot of Damon's post-Bewilderbeast works, I think it takes a few listenings to really get into it. For me, after the 5th time through I started to dig it big-time. The ending's the best part. I love the fish-and-chips packaging of the limited 7" single.

I like it. Mind you, I was also born in the UK, so it may just sentimentality.
