New Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio

Felix and Simon are going to force your asses to shake when Crazy Itch Radio drops 9/4. I've been listening to it for a few months and I don't think any Jaxx fans will be disappointed. MySpace is streaming the tribal horn-explosion "Hey U" (featuring Robyn) and infectious club-thumper "Hush Boy" (featuring Vula Malinga, who you'll remember from "Oh My Gosh"). And these aren't even the best songs on the album! BJaxx are playing dates in NY and LA in October; full US tour is expected next year.

Wow, eighteen posts in one day. That's gotta be some sort of record, right?

How much does their new publicity shot rock?
I think Simon is trying to be Franz from Hold Steady

My wrists hurt! That reminds me, I need to call Mac. I'm back on my shitty Compaq since the screen blew.

Where in LA? Where are the details? Even their MySpace does not mention it...

I hope it is good... the last album of theirs that I picked up was severely disappointing...

I fully support the Robyn track. It's pretty awesome.

I already heard the album. It's less Rock then Kish Kash, more Soul. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.

Less Rock, & more Soul... That's a good thing! It *is* Basement Jaxx, after all...

Saw them live supporting Robbie Williams last night, and they were amazing - with a very Gnarls Barkley-esque stage show!

Was actually mildly disappointed! Songs felt kinda slap-dash and the beats just kinda noisy. "Take Me Back To Your House" is a stormer, though, and "U R On My Mind" is a nice closer. Maybe just need to give it more time...

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
