New Bloc Party - "Mercury" (CSS Remix)

thubmnail icon: New Bloc Party - "Mercury" (CSS Remix)

Some folks think Bloc Party's "Mercury" sounds like "Shock The Monkey," an idea reinforced by the Planet Of The Apes video for the track. The CD version of the single comes with remixes of the track by CSS, Flosstradamus, and John Lydon (one of those is a lie), which could possibly dampen some of the Peter Gabriel echoes. Or not. We have CSS's fizzy "Mercy" shakeup via YouTube, where it's busy scoring someone's game of Audiosurf, a game I know nothing about.

The "Mercury" single's out today (8/12) via Atlantic. The American version is digital-only, but you can get it as the aforementioned CD as well as a 7", 12", or limited edition disc set in the UK and etc. More info at blocparty.com.

Holy crap this is so much better than the original version. I wish this was the single instead of just a remix. Thank you, CSS, for showing us how it's done.

You should probably look into Audiosurf, Brandon. You'd dig.

The game is called Audiosurf.

"Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the internet for the high score on your favorite songs."
