New Bob Dylan Video - "When The Deal Goes Down"

Directed By: Bennett Miler (Capote)
Starring: Scarlett Johansson (Home Alone 3)
Music By: Bob Dylan (Almost as good as Oasis!)

Premiering here. It's old-home-movie like. My mom still calls the camcorder the "motion picture camera."

Also check out digital-music-hating Bob Dylan in this new iPod commercial.

Oh, and what do you think of the album?!

I'm actually kinda split, some of the stuff sounds stupendous, but on the others Dylan just sounds old.

Young Bob and Old Bob sound so different.

This is the same man that sold his image and song to a Victoria's Secret commercial a year or two back. Guess he's hard up for cash... Am I supposed to respect a man that talks out both sides of his mouth? What does he believe in now a days? Money. And iPods.

The ipod commercial is hilarious.

Brilliant album that takes its place among his finest moments, and that's saying something. I love the video too.

I like the part in "Thunder Mountain" where he says, "I've sucked the milk of a thousand cows."

The voice of his generation. . . yes, the voice of his generation. . .

Well, if you were paying attention to anything here instead of putting "bob fucking dylan" on a pedestal, you would know he was knocking the crap out of digital music in an interview, but then he goes on and puts out a commercial for a device that celebrates it. Comprende? I don't believe any artist, just because they've been around for a long time, deserves to not be questioned. And no, his music doesn't really do anything for me either. Nor did it make me want to buy some underwear from some models walking around with breast implants. If he wrote some music for a porno you'd probably buy it too. But you can worship him if you like.

Wow, people get really touchy when you say something about their god... kinda like the Catholic church! Listen, I never said anything about "selling out". Of course he's free to promote whatever products he wants, it's just strange to me that he would pick ladies undergarments and an electronic device that plays music in a format he loathes. But we must not ask any questions, no sir! Stupid, stupid people and their "ideas".

When Dylan put down modern music, he was referring to the way the tracks are mixed and how the volumes are too loud and static. He wasn't dissing digital music; in fact, I don't think he says the words "digital" or "download" at all in the excerpts. He's complaining about the lack of definition brought on by the modern technology. Please click this link to get educated on what he's talking about:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war

Also, digital music is part of the future of music. Hell, it IS music today. I don't see anything wrong with him doing an iPod commercial. It's akin to him doing a commercial for CDs in the '90s. He'd be a fool not to put his stuff out in the most popular format and, besides, it's not like Apple is directly responsible for the problems with modern music.

Furthermore, Bob Dylan is a weird guy. I'd recommend his semi-autobiography, Chronicles Volume 1. He's changed a lot from his old "protest singer" image. Doing VS and iPod ads doesn't seem like a stretch. It's probably just something he was offered and said, "Why the hell not?" :)

yeah, people with number one albums and 100 million albums sold are usually hard up for cash. Are you hard up for someone to criticize? People like you can't figure out why someone who doesn't fit into YOUR idea of "talented" can get further in life than you. Let me give you one bit of advice. You will never get it! And no one cares. So keep on crying, because there is not a set list of steps numbered 1,2,3 that lead to success. I know that is hard for you to handle. But, if you keep on writing your uneducated crap on websites, maybe you will learn how to be creative and change the world. Well, maybe not!! And, according to you, who cares what "Bob 'Fucking' Dylan has done. Well, I will tell you this: a lot more people care than they do about your jealous nonsense!

And one more thing... the whole thing is a joke... Bob said back in the sixties while he was being pounded by ignorant press reporters, people that comprehend the world much like you apparently do (confused, angry, ruthless and stupid) about what commercial interest he would ever sell-out to? As a joke he replied, "ladies undergarments." As someone who actually works in commercial advertising and had some real knowledge about the things they write about, I praise the marketing personnel who knew this fact and applied it to an actual production. Let me give you one more piece of advice: as my 5th grade teacher once told us: "Put your brain in gear before you put your mouth in motion!"
