New Britney Spears - "Gimme More"

Yep, another new one from Ms. Spears. After the accusing-phone-call tripe of the last one, we'll understand if you never even get around to listening. There's some dispute among the staff as we can't tell if we feel sorry for her or our expectations are so low, but "Gimme More," which in fairness is her real shot at a comeback single (produced by Timbaland protégé Nate 'Danja' Hills of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake fame) is pretty good! Better than Heidi from the Hills, anyway. It's a shot at a club burner; it ain't "Toxic," but the hook's fun to sing and you can imagine the TRL kids giving their V-Chat shoutouts over it pretty easily. But Busta Rhymes did it better. Listen at Perez.

So is this finally enough to get back into the listening public's good graces? Guess we'll see -- supposedly this is the track she'll be performing at the VMAs this year. Probably not though. The public's been given such a window into her life, at this point it's very difficult not to marvel at how dumb she is. Like, at first it was 'girl is not smart!' and now it's 'she lacks common sense ... sad.' You really get the picture she thinks she can leave her kids in the yard with some Red Bull while she gets stoned and picks out her hair extensions.

Welcome back Brit!

Not bad but the low, drawn out "more" sounds like a burp

Hahaha, is it just me or does the song start "It's britney bitch!"?

IT'S BRITNEY BITCH!!!!

It is ok, and if people jumped like idiots on the "sexyback" bandwagon (a beyond belief mediocre pop song) I don't understand why this song can't be a hit.

Other than that I appreciate Britney for her very rock and roll life, she embodies everything that a genuine rock star should be, above all she doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone, she does what she wants and her stupidity and outrageous behaviour doesn't seem calculated or self conscious just plain moronic, and yes, she's a major asshole but isn't that a requirement for all rock stars?

I know she doesn't play or sing rock, but really in these days who does?

Sounds like some generic 80's club shit. It will probably sell ten million copies. It's definitely no "Toxic," but what the hell is? That song was the shit.

Except for that whole music/artistry/integrity thing, but I mean who gives a fuck about that?

I don't think it's very interesting, this dance track could have come from anyone. It has the right elements, but doesn't really sizzle. I agree that it sounds like "Sexy back" but not as good.

@JoseFelatio: you read my mind. Exactly what I thought when I first heard the song, though ultimately The Way I Are is just SexyBack mixed with Salt 'N' Pepa's 'Push It'.

Gimme More is a boring-as-pie song, but at least it isn't as gratuitously crass and cheaply produced as the whole of her last album.

Britany Spears has always sucked. Will always suck. Anyone who thinks differently is probably a Justin Timberlake fan too. I don't like any musical "artists" whose carrers are a linear progression from their days in the Micky Mouse Club.
