New Built To Spill Tracks

Thanks guys for being patient with us today, the server is getting hammered (wonder why?). So here's a quick and cool treat for ya: The Built To Spill fellas surprised us with a couple of singles they put together -- no album, just a couple of tracks to remind you that you love them. And you do. "Rearrange" sees 'em in that slowed and harmonious mode that Band Of Horses studied so well, while "They Got Away" is a beachfront dub-by exercise in first-and-third beat chill-out, fitting the weathered tropical sunset scene of the cover art rather perfectly.

"Rearrange"

"They Got Away"

Enjoy 'em. We love you. And Built To Spill.

I'd listen to these right away if I weren't playing the new Spoon album for the first time. Btw, buy it...It's really good.

At the risk of stirring up a shitstorm, are these "authorized" postings of the 2 tracks? Genuinely curious, because I know they went on sale on iTunes this week.

ok i like cracker reggae to an extent... i way dig bts and i like their tunes here but i hope it is not a sign of things to come.

maybe its me whos getting old but my brain still has looped versions of a dubbed cassette of there's nothing wrong with love and when the walkman runs out of batteries i grab my discman and put in my keep it like a secret and when i am at home i throw in the vhs of the bts/pavement gig they did on reverb.

i love dougs now you know but i just hope these tunes are a one and done kind of thing. but hey who i am to tell doug to switch from dial to zest or zest to dial (they both give me hives)

Me likey, I'm not worried about a new direction, BTS never has disappointed before. Everything BTS does is a result of their love for music, which makes them a class act.

This is in no way an attempt to "get the kiddies," as Aneglo put it. Built To Spill has never wanted more than they have or any mainstream success above what they have. They are the most genuine musicians that have succeeded in the business that I can think of.

Doug also wants everyone to know that "They Got Away" does not signal the start of a reggae Built To Spill, but rather, it was a song that evolved from jams and that they played on their tour during Summer '06.

"Re-Arrange" is a cover of a Gladiators song that they also played during the Summer '06 tour.

I applaud Built To Spill for their contentness and their lack of a desire to sell-out. They continue to make music that is interesting to them and they are surprised that so many people enjoy it.

Man I have been waiting for them to come out w/ rearrange on vinyl, for anyone that likes what Dug does w/ his covers. I highly recommend The Boise Band "unoriginal artist" Anybody get to see the Halo Benders get back together for a short?
