New Cold War Kids - "Something Is Not Right With Me"

thumbnail icon: New Cold War Kids - "Something Is Not Right With Me"

While you weren't looking, Cold War Kids got adopted by the NME and took a place alongside acts like Kings Of Leon and the Killers as "bigger in Britain" (at least, anecdotally -- who knows what record sales mean anymore). And during that time, like two years now, they've been patiently plugging away on a followup to Robbers & Cowards, the debut album that seemed rushed out (to capitalize on their EP buzz and signing to Downtown) and sounded like it, too. You can hear what all that time has done to their sound (to these ears, they learned a disco rhythm -- otherwise it's still relatively twitchy and full of those soul yelps) by checking album preview track "Something Is Not Right With Me" at MySpace. (UPDATE: Now with 100% more free MP3 downloadability at RCRD LBL.)

Loyalty To Loyalty is out 9/23. It's got a tracklist.

Eh... this song is okay... I was a fan of their last album but it slowly started grating my nerves.

When's the premature evaluation of Okkervil River gonna happen? Cause it should!

you forgot the quintessential 'bigger in britian band' of the indie world: we are scientists.

Oh that was CWK too, with Alec Ounsworth and Elvis Perkins from Bonnaroo last year. You can see them a little more clearly in this one, from øya festival '06.

It's up again. Awesome song. Some of their guitar work and vocals are an aquired taste (the breakdowns on Vacation and some of Nathan's wails), but I've gotten over them and love the band.

Absolute blinder of a track, right from the thumping bassline through to the screamin' vocals.

Love it.

This song is kinda yelpy, but the song on their video promo completely kicks ass...

the first time i heard this was at the free prospect park show and it sounded like it was going to be awesome. the recording seems like it's lacking something though.

This new song is pretty dope. Quick and efficient tune. These dudes and Catfish Haven should tour together. maybe get the War on Drugs as an opener too?
