New Coral - Roots & Echoes Preview

We recently noted that the Mabuses remind us of the Coral. In turn, one day after the UK release of their fourth full-length Roots & Echoes (fifth, if you add the Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker mini-album), the Coral remind us how interestingly decadent folks are getting with their personalized streamers: Dr. Dog's all karaoke-style; Devendra's got pretty pictures; and the suave, semi-bowl '60s redolent UK sextet appoint it tastefully with black, tan, and red. Click here to get listening.

The Roots & Echoes tunes on the menu are the swinging first single "Who's Gonna Find Me" (complete with retrofit, soft-focused, camera-spinning, psychedelic video), the twangy "Remember Me" (complete with black 'n' tan band pic), the balladeering "Put The Sun Back" (same photo) and the autumnal but bouncy "Jacqueline" (ditto). Hardcore Brit rock fans already toting around R&S should realize the lads are going one-by-one through the 11-track record ... or so it would seem. How to know for sure? The Coral's helpful tech crew offers a chance to remotely host the player at your own site, promising "more videos to be added." We pressed "click here" just to see what would happen and ... nothing happened. Rejected by a promo tool? The Animals.

Roots & Echoes is out now in the UK on Deltasonic.

I'm far more interested in the Coral when they are in full-on, for lack of a better term, shambolic mode. These songs are a little too polished.
