New Deerhunter - "After Class"

You may not have noticed this, but P4K is rather obsessed with all things Deerhunter. Not pointing fingers, everybody's prone to playing favorites (hey, remind us, we have to tell you 'bout this Soofyan guy ... repeatedly) -- and our penchant for sick live sets, cross-dressing, and American Apparel clerks render us helpless against the Georgians' charms. Cryptograms may not be flawless, but it does has perfect moments, and their excellent Fluorescent Grey EP was a slow-smoldering curveball. So this new track, from Rare Book Room Record's compilation, sees the Deers keep that deliberate, mild-mannered psychedelia vibe that starts off "After Class" ... which slowly dissipates in a bridge built by stretching each instrument in something like an involuntary distortion of reality, tethered only by that steady cymbal pulse, like the one friend who's not so dickish as to leave you during the 'lose your shit' portion of a 'shroom trip. Don't worry, Bradford's voice calls back, follow it back into that serene and by-comparison-not-at-all-stretched-when-you-think-about-it "strip down, strip down" bit. All of a sudden, by comparison that verse sounds completely normal, doesn't it. Reality is just perspective, and all that? Remember kids, never take more than you can handle, and always know your dealer. In good hands with Deerhunter.

Have a listen at MySpace.

I love this band.. this track is a nice mellow flipside to the more abrasive stuff on Cryptograms. Looking forward to whatever they put out next..

No one paid attention to their split 7" that Chunklet released though did they?

My opinion on the album, it was good, but not as a whole. After roughly half of it I was feeling so bored. These days I just listen to two or three tracks (on random) at a time.

Is there a link or a mp3 or a video that I'm missing here? I can't seem to find anything close to a sample of the song even.
