New Eminem - "Number One"

thubmnail icon: New Eminem - "Number One"

You guys all have watched the TRL finale on your DVR so many times by now so I don't need to tell you that when Marshall Mathers made his appearance at the MTV studios, he said you could expect his Relapse LP in early '09. TRL & Marshall Mathers? I just published this post from 2004. Which, actually, is the year of the reclusive rap guy's last album. In the time since, reports have trickled out suggesting this next record will feature production from Focus, DJ Premier, and Swizz Beat, although all signs point to Dr. Dre cooking the bulk of the Relapse beats. Some weeks ago we heard what might be the first leak from the record, the Dre-helmed "I'm Having A Relapse." It's another Dre cut here, this "Number One," which Eminem-as-ring-announcer introduces as a blast from Slim Shady. Guess who's back (again) with rhymes about cracked bottles, sloppy models, condoms and Tahoes.

Relapse is due out Q1 via Interscope.

This already sounds like a Weird Al parody.

It's cool that he pretty much re-made "Lucas With the Lid Off" by Lucas. Hood Internet, let's get that mash up happening.

Wow, Eminem is sounding weird and really subpar. I don't have any expectations for this album, but I hope it doesn't suck.

I prefer Aesop & Del's version. Way less annoying.

This can't be on the album, it sounds more a mixtape cut. It also sucks.

on a technical level he is still a beast. as a lyricist, I think he has hit rock bottom.
or maybe he recorded this as a ruse.
i'd die if he put out another mindless album full of drivel.

Somebody forgot to tell Eminem that he's the only one who wants a new Eminem album.

Did anyone else see this interview with his mom? Apparently she still sends him checks:

Or here: http://tinyurl.com/57lvnw

Then again, he may need them if his next record is this bad.

Allah

Fuck what anyone says about him.
The Slim SHady LP was amazing and if that's all he had it'd still be more than what any of us ever will.

Give him a break, this is obviously a demo/rough cut. He's rapping Dre's part (sounds like dre willl have verse 1 and 3, which is why the flow changes up so much in the 2nd verse).

It looks like this got pulled down, noticed the same thing over at TheFader. Either someone slipped something they weren't supposed to, or this is Interscope's version of Guerilla Marketing.

1st verse is definitely a substitute for dre. 2nd is great. don't think 3rd is dre. I actually think the refrain is supposed to be more back and forth as well. still looking forward to anything from Detox.

Eminem is the greatest to ever pick up a mic. It's just a shame he didn't put it down after the Marshal Matthers LP.
