New Franz Ferdinand Video - "Do You Want To"

There's something '80s-ish about it that I like. Maybe it's the white backgrounds and over-the-top facial expressions. You'd think it was Split Enz if it was on mute. Watch here.

I like it because it's the first time that they've actually shown anything resembling a personality. Maybe Interpol can follow suit with their next vid.

That song sounds better than the last time I heard it. Perhaps it's a new version. Allow me to release my inner teenybopper for a moment and say...Alex Kapranos is hot.

Chris: The video is in Windows Media format. You might check the website (www.franzferdinand.org) for a Quick Time version.

Remind me why bands still make videos? Is there a television station that plays them?

Chris: Open Windows Media Player and from the File menu choose 'Open URL...' (Command-U) and the URL to the video is: http://www.franzferdinand.org/video/doyouwantto_promo.asx

FYI: It probably won't work in VLC, if you prefer it.

Good luck and enjoy!

"remind me why bands still make videos. Is there a TV station that shows them"
We're watching it here. Talking about it here. It's whats called viral marketing and argueably reaches more people then any video channel.

I can't say much for the songwriting that went on there, but I did enjoy the video.

...

Was anyone else entirely turned on by four the four of 'em in their lil' tight pants sharing the same "bed" in the beginning?

...

Perhaps just me.

Wow. That was one of the most hideous, embarrassing things I've ever seen; easily as bad as the worst of the '80's MTV fare (although something tells me that's what they were going for). If that's the new face of hip, keep it the hell away from me.

does anyone else notice a resemblance of the lead singer to michael ian black? his mannerisms in stella, which is funny as hell, are also similar.

Watching videos? All on-line, baby! Welcome to the future! And as for it makes *me* think of the 80s, it's those stripey shirts. Makes me think of the Romantics.

i think it's rather clever.
it almost makes up for the fact that they are fast becoming a frat boy band, right beneath the reigning champs Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson.

I saw the video on MTV maybe a week or so ago. It was probably around 9am, not prime time by any means. I thought the song was lame.

I'm still not wild on the song, but it's far better live.

..And the video is a wee bit dodgy, but I suppose it has its moments...

Wow, that video was like the art-rock version of "Fight For Your Right To Party". I'm not sure if that makes it great, ridiculous or both.

Still fond of the song though.

I really liked the video. Any band that is helping to bring back the likes of Split Enz is fine by me. It's better then all the other crap that gets played now on MTV2 and the like.

I too was reminded of the video for fight for your right to party.

I think it's there best single to date and they're certinally showing a great deal of personality. I think they're an incredibly important band and it is really important that arty music can be over ground. It's far superior then any other mainstream indie band at the moment. So cool, so hip, so fun.

Stylish and Scottish, how perfect can you get? For me they're the most stylish to come out of Britain since... Britpop. Thank the Lord for Scottish indie!
