New Grandaddy - "Jeez Louise," "Rear View Mirror"

We're still mourning the death of Grandaddy. So bittersweet 'cause their swan album Just Like The Fambly Cat sounds pretty rad. Stream two tracks on MySpace.

Band Members: our band consists of timmy dryden, jimmy fairchild, jason lytle, kevin the woof, and aaron burtch
Influences: we are influenced by pork chops, raindrops, belly flops and hatin' cops.
Sounds Like: when todd rundgren got in that soft car crash with dolly parton.

Every time my computer is on, Ted insists that I play "AM 180" for him. That or Big Black. He confuses me.

Nonetheless, Grandaddy have left an impressive legacy and I will miss them.

The Grandaddy swan song album is pretty disappointing.

from Matt's little blog:
"Just thought I'd let you know that the new Flaming Lips album, At War With the Mystics is an amazing album. I wish I could say the same for the new Secret Machines and the final Grandaddy album. They are both subpar in my opinion.

"Telling a critic that they're not allowed to review a song because they'll never be able to write something better is pointless. It's like telling a band that they shouldn't be able to write music until they can write a critical analysis or 1000 words about a band which isn't interesting in any way."

Seriously, do you honestly believe that you shouldn't be able to say that something isn't good unless you've written something better?

Like the Grandaddy album (esp. "Rear View Mirror" and "This Is How It Always Starts), like the Flaming Lips album (Yeah Yeah Yeah song is brilliant), but I FRIGGIN LOVE the new TV On The Radio Album! Tops of 2006 thus far (yeah, i know it's only March).

Mystics is my #1, by far. Great album.

Grandaddy is not disappointing, it's very good. "Rear View Mirror" is great.

TVOTR is ok, but kinda boring.
