New Hives & Cyndi Lauper - "A Christmas Duel"
![]()
When we joked about the Hives having one fan left, we were proven wrong: They have at least a dozen. (Just kidding, Hives fan.) Cyndi Lauper is apparently fond of the Swedish garage crew -- she's teams up with them for a "Fairytale Of New York"-style "A Christmas Duel." The Hives explain:
It may sound weird and come as a surprise to some, but we had to. It came to us. It landed in our lap and was way too good to shake or toss. We knew we had to record it. A sign if you will.
And Lauper adds: "This goes to show even rat sideswipers can have a good Xmas too." True.
It'll be up for free download from 11/28-30 at the Hives' site. After that, it'll be available for a price 12/1 in the UK and 12/2 via the Orchard.

the only good xmas songs in the last ten years:
sarah mclachlan - wintersog
aimee mann - the christmas song
rob thomas - new york christmas
the darkness - christmas time (don't let the bells end)
barenaked ladies - footprints
why do people not write good christmas songs anymore?

Remember when Joey Ramone and Ronnie Spector did a duet? It sounded a lot like this, only arguably better.

Nothing by The Hives is wrong, even if it's stolen. And this song actually doesn't suck, which is somewhat surprising, even though it's Howlin' Pelle.
Will be there at their website to pick it up on 28th!
