New Hold Steady - "Atlantic City" (Springsteen Cover)

thumbnail icon: New Hold Steady - "Atlantic City" (Springsteen Cover)

Since the Boss's and Amrit's eyes are dating, a little more Springsteen-related news doesn't seem at all excessive. Speaking of which: By now the Heroes compilation is likely as second nature to you as Dark Was The Night via Elbow's U2, TV On The Bowie, Lily Allen's Clash, Hot Chip's Joy Division, etc. Adding to the tracklist recognition, in this installment Bruce asked the Hold Steady to have a go at the Nebraska classic "Atlantic City."

Remember: Springsteen is a longtime Hold Steady fan. While you're here, take another listen to the original.

War Child: Heroes is out 2/16 on Parlophone.

Thank god!!! I have been waiting for this since they covered it at that benefit like a year ago. Got to love some Steady.

it's great. i SO hoped that it would be the full band version that it is and not just another lame acoustic cover that basically sounds the same as the original.

They did a very nice job but I think the best version is from Springsteen Unplugged.

Awful cover. This guy can't even sing in key for 2 bars in a row... the acapella breakdown really sealed the deal, like nails on a chalk board.

This is not a springsteen cover. The original was performed by The Band. My favorite version is by Rolling In The Hay. great song but hold steady wiffed on this one.

Other way around. The Band covered AC on Jericho in 93, but the song was written by Springsteen in 1982.
