New Joggers - "Era Prison"

My friend Jon turned me on to The Joggers a couple months ago, with a copy of Solid Guild. I listened to the new album, With A Cape And A Cane a few weeks ago and I was little surprised ... kind of a departure for them, a move into the more commercially viable Killer-Party area.

That being said, there is one bomb-ass song that stood out on that first listen:

The Joggers - "Era Prison" (MP3 Link Expired)

There's a copy of the new album floating around the 'gum, and we're going to give it a really hard listen later this week. On the strength of that track, the rest of the album would have to feature a rapping cartoon cat to be unworthy.

Cool bros, great tuneage. One of very few PDX bands not slobbering on the Decemberists' cocks.

I was really turned off by the Joggers when I saw them open for Ted Leo & The Pharmacists at the Great American Music Hall a few months ago. I didn't think they were that great, and apparently a lot of other people agreed (people were just sort of standing around and talking amongst themselves), and the band members actually started getting ANGRY at the crowd and complaining about how they were being under-appreciated.

I just thought that was incredibly bizarre, having some opening band smack-talking the crowd for not liking them enough. It was bad enough to make it very hard for me to like them, ever.

Oh but Ted Leo & crew were amazing, as always.

it's cool, but you guys should show more entries on the first page if you guys are going to post this much. something is wrong if we can't see yesterday's posts, not to mention all of the current day.

What the hell were the Joggers/their producer thinking?? Their first album with the barber harmonization was such a great departure from the general drony indie vocals. It sounds like the old joggers are trying to play through layers of cheesy halfwit electro production. I don't get why they would take such a unique and catchy sound and play it through the trendy electro zeitgeist trend.

15 min. hipster:

I saw the Joggers open for Ted too and share your low opinion of them.

Making matters worse, Ted used all their equipment that night, so the sound was horrible.

However, Ted and his Pharmacists have fully redeemed themselves with Vancouver's show last Friday. A local band opened and did a fine job, sounded muuuuch better than the joggers, who put on a real sloppy live show. Ugh.

not complaining about reading "half a page of updates." complaining that you have to hit the archives for stuff posted earlier in the day or last night. some people don't or can't check this 3 times a day. make a case for lazy, but we are more likely to see it if it's more accessible. that goes for anything.

Is this sponsored content (just curious whether that Startime banner was there before or after you posted this)?

Omit, it's *not* at all sponsored, although I did see that before I posted that and wondered if anyone would think I was pushing it for $.

Like I said, I'm on the fence with the album, but I really liked that song. Now we should fist-fight with our fists.

I saw the Joggers play a show opening for the Decemberists and I think the exact opposite. I loved what I saw. They were raw and had lots of energy. Could it be they had an off night?
