New Kelis - "Brass In Pocket"

Shitty covers day continues at the 'gum with, via ILM, this cover of The Pretenders' "Brass In Pocket", by Kelis, appearing on the soundtrack to Just Like Heaven. Were you excited until you read those last three words? Me, too.

Kelis - "Brass In Pocket" (MP3 link expired)

A by-the-numbers almost note-for-note remake is the exact opposite of what you'd expect from the woman behind both "Caught Out There" and "Milkshake". Maybe she's too busy working on her new fashion line.

I was admittedly slow to warm up to Jim and Jed, but now I'd like to publicly say WOO to them for being kickass. Also, Chrissy Hynde is not dead, but probably richer now.

Unnecessary, but not really bad enough to be shitty. Just...redundant.

I'm not sure what to say.

Did I really just listen to this?

I cringed when I heard the song while watching the movie. That's right, I watched "Just Like Heaven." That's 90 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

From her website: "the 'Milkshake' star has also been designing her own line of fashion assessories"

uh- come again?...

Did we do something to you? Do you hate us for some reason? Recompense must be made. How bout some stuff off the new Neil Young? Or that rising star Jen Wood. Anything to wash the taste of these out of our collective minds and ear canals.

Any chance of getting the Babyshambles album uploaded to rapidshare/yousendit/megaupload? I'm not too good with torrents.

Should I know why Just Like Heaven is stigmatized? Don't hate me because I'm pure and innocent and don't pay Hollywood the attention it doesn't deserve.

Actually, the whole soundtrack to Just Like Heaven is filled with drek. See coverage here:

Jon Heder still comes off as Napolean Dynomite but with a makeover in this piece of crap film.

I was excited to hear she was covering it as I think Kelis is pretty cool and the Pretenders first album is still the shit after 30 plus years.

But this cover is absolute shit. What the fuck happened?
