New Killers Video - "The World We Live In"

thumbnail icon: New Killers Video - "The World We Live In"

While the rest of the Killers scavenge for trash near their log cabin, Brandon changes into a mirror ball suit (?) and sings to the mountain goats. He's no help in the wilderness, really. The band probably regrets even inviting him on this bros' songwriting retreat. Mark is pissed and smashes a chair against the wall. Ronnie can't get the portable TV to work. Dave forgot his contact lens solution. Worst camping trip ever.

"The World We Live In" is Day & Age's third single everywhere except North America, where as you might have guessed "A Dustland Fairytale" has been chosen instead. The Killers are prepping a DVD and mulling over a covers album, which would include tunes written by Bright Eyes (this one), Cyndi Lauper, and Murray Head. Billboard says it won't be out for a while, sorry.

I went on a wilderness adventure very similar to this one recently. It rained the whole time, we forgot things, lost things, people got eaten by things; but overall the trip wasn't quite as bad as there wasn't a Killers song playing in the background the whole time.

I love the Killers, but this comment was hilarious all the same.

Also, I love the Killers, but this song is the worst on a great album, and this video may be the most boring thing I've ever willingly watched. Guess their streak of putting out amazing singles is about to end.

This is by far the worst song on Day & Age- I don't understand why they decided to release it. So many better options. I guess they just felt like having a flop.

But fucking A those boots with tips made of disco ball at 3:28.... damn Bflo.

for all the haters ....in 10yrs people will still listen to their songs long after most flavor of the week blog bands have been forgotten. Maybe it will be at weddings or whatever but they'll be remebered. Their not reinventing the wheel but the songs are catchy as hell and fun. You know, like Rock and Pop should be.

So what you're saying is that in the future the Killers' music will become associated with occasions that tend to play tame, mainstream shit because it appeals (and donesn't offend) young and old alike because it's so safe and everybody is familiar with it? And that everyone with a decent taste in music will still despise them as much as they do now? (I felt that last bit was implied).

No what I'm saying is all this "cool" music you listen to will be forgotten in 10yrs while the killers will live on somewhere bars etc etc and someone somewhere will actually be enjoying it. I'm a julliard student and I recently realized that I am playing and studying music that 10 people care about and I think 9 are pretending that kind of sums up indie rock to me at this point. Popular isn't always bad

"Dustland Fairytale" is probably the worst song on the album... it's a real bummer that they released that one as the US Single instead of this. I love the weird mashup of Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" and "One On One" by Hall & Oates, with a dash of The Cars. One of those things that maybe shouldn't work (at least, according to most Pitchforkers) but does.

I hate this song but I like the Killers. Why couldnt they have gone with This is Your Life, I Can't Stay. Hell even Neon Tiger would do! I cringe everytime this song comes up on my playlists. It just sounds so off beat and not in a good way..

The whole Day & Age thing really bores me. They'll never top the first record.

this song/video is so 80s to me...something that we will see alongside snarky commentary a vh1 countdown of 00s hits in a decade or so. when can our generation do something ORIGINAL instead of biting off past decades. regardless, brandons hot as hell.

No, this is an awful, very awful song, in a awful, very awful album. But the video improves it, I gotta admit it.

The album is kinda uneven ("Joy Ride" and this one are the worst!) but there is much to love about "This is Your Life" and "I Can't Stay." They need to re-evaluate why they are picking their singles. This is NOT gonna be a hit and neither is "A Dustland Fairytale."
