New Killers - When You Were Young (Thin White Duke Remix)

"When You Were Young" works better without JLC's beats, but for the Killers completist, if such a reader exists:

The Killers - "When You Were Young (Jacque Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Radio Edit)" (MP3)

i wouldn't call myself a completist, but i'm a little upset that i can't get it to play. aside from that, i'll have to second mu's opinion of previous remixes. and i am unashamed to say that i can't wait for the album.

I am in no way a Killer's completeist but I have to say that I think the original version of this song is almost perfect cheesy overwraught arena rock... like something on the scale of Meatloaf or Journey... which I mean as a complement.

Also i thought the performance at the VMAs was amazing.

i think he should've waited so he could've done the next single bones instead. when you were young isn't exactly a song meant to be remixed methinks.

i can't stop watching their VMA performance but i thought they were so out of place there as they were the only act who could perform live well without gimmickry -- unless you count the mustaches, of course.

DMR took the words out of my mouth. i could take or leave the Killers (leave more often than take), but anything Stuart touches needs to be in my collection.

File's not showing up...I'm more of a JLC fan, myself. As for the original, it bores me with this unabashed cheese factor. Bleck.

I dislike the original track, but Stuart Price gets in there and makes me actually enjoy it. Bastard.

doesnt he go under the remix name 'thin white duck' not actually 'thin white duke'? as sort of a sidekick joke to his 'jack the cunt' moniker. i have a record that says 'thin white duck' remix anyway.

He does thin white duke AND thin white duck. I've seen it printed both ways anyway.

Kind of sucked. His Mr. Brightside remix was better. It's true, When You Were Young isn't exactly remixable. Bones will sound fantastic with a techno beat though.

there's a freeform five remix of this track which is way more inventive than this tired old rehash

I have to say this is another cracker of a remix, but when I played my set last night I chose to finish on the Lindbergh Palace remix which I actually prefer, and it got a great reception.

Lindbergh Palace version has a wider base and just seems an overall bigger sound and more appropriate climax, and it's also easier to mix into.

Although this one is still massive, I find the intro to the Thin White Duke mix a little messy to work with, especially when the speakers are distant from the DJ booth, which makes it so much more difficult to get the mix on the bubble.

I had trouble mixing into this one in my bedroom with the speaker right in front of me!

Just my opinion - would be interesting to find other views from a dj perspective

I think the Technorati ranks are quite skewed with regards to blogs the recently moved to science blogs. And from my own experience with Technorati, "recently" in their terms can be weeks... They're not always up to date, and have a very hard time handling moved sites or merged domains (two urls both leading to the same site). I tried that once and suddenly I had 0 incoming links, said the mighty Technorati website. Then I had to wait about a month for support, so you can see why I don't believe in Technorati's numbers very much.

I am a "multi-blogger". I have three blogs on TypePad (one general blog [current events, sports, books, movies], one photoblog, one parenting blog), a work-related one on Blogger, and another group-authored blog on Blogger as well. One reason to have multiple blogs is to separate your work life and interests from your personal life.

Victoria's Secret Show 2006 - what is the "when you were young" remix they played? EVERYONE is saying it is the Jacques Lu Cont remix, but it isn't. This remix is soft and airy with NO guitars in it. Check it out on youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9599D4gt0hY
It's awesome! CAN ANYONE HELP ME LOCATE IT?
