New Lindsey Buckingham - "Did You Miss Me" Gift of Screws, Buckingham's studio follow up to 2006's Stereogum-approved Under The Skin, is out 9/16 on Warner Bros. As previously reported, Fleetwood mates John McVie and Mick Fleetwood guest (and Sheryl Crow doesn't). Bad middle aged Buckingham has an unfortunate "baywatch" vibe. He does still have his moments though. A truly odd amount of spunk for a man that age. If I had MY way I'd make the next Fleetwood Mac a Tweedy tribute album. (The idea came to me listening to tracks like kamera and handshake drugs!) I read that Lindsey looks to Yorke and Radiohead for inspiration. Good for him. My favorite solos are the crack high sugar rush things that nail you right away... jenny lee jones, I want you , don't look down...

Hey Stereogum....YOU'RE WELCOME for the heads up on this news like a week ago.

This album is gonna be awesome. I heard about 4 of the tracks a while ago (before his last one even came out) and they are awesome. More rockin' then the last CD.

HIs last album was good, but like CTA said, it lacks those "crack high sugar rush[es]" that he's so so good at. So I look forward to the new material. Now, to listen to the new song.

the new track sounds good. standard Buckingham fare - which is a good thing because he's one of the only artists i can think of that is at the peak of his career with every new release.

Please. Stop being a producer (it would have sounded better if yada yada). It is what it is. Judge it on its own terms, not what it isn't. Cripes. Jeez, like saying you think that Van Gogh should have painted more nudes. To please you. OK, that said, what gives? He just came out with an album after a decade and a half. Though torrenting will get you two interesting LB albums not released. The original (and amazing, really) GOS and the San Juan Capistrano (live) from 1992, maybe the best live album I've ever heard. For tech reasons too (in terms of craftsmanship and recording. Check the metric precision. Unusual even for a classical quartet, much less a 'rock' artist.) Obviously from a Warners professional recording/document and maybe the most rehearsed live performance (yet, still room for looseness and a spontaneity) I've ever heard. Buckingham must have locked all 10? 11?-six guitars, three percussion, etc. in his basement for a couple of years to get that kind of rock solid tempos. Quite fantastic. WB... release it. Original GOS, brilliant. Maybe a good sign (too...what? provocative, different?) that WB turned it down.

Under the Skin. It was different. His right to make listeners come to him. Obviously, some of you are pretty square and want him (it's his freaking album, not yours!) to come around to your taste. Please. Grow. Up. He's a very original and interesting and rather obsessive character. I find him one of the more compelling artists of the last 30 years. He's completely his own man. And, when you see him squirm to salute modern hacks like Radiohead to seem with-it and contemporary and hip to the kids, you just have to laugh. Fun to see him live since he is clearly uncomfortable with intimate human interaction. Every bit of patter is scripted and repeated verbatim in every concert. He's a little Aspergers and it's quite a challenge for him to put his face on stage. Clearly got soul though and goes his own way. DW Suite. For Dennis Wilson. LB's got a big heart.

jenny lee jones is not the song.
Mary Lee Jones is. He needs no defense for anything.
He is more experimental than 90% of current indie music.

The did you miss me song is amazing and if anyone mainstream did this song, it would easily be number one on the pop charts. The rest of the album has a few moments on it that are good, but really so so. As for did you miss me, it sounds like a song out of time, something that was meant to be on of of Fleetwood Macs top albums 25 years ago.
