"Down On Rodeo" is a highlight, but here's hoping the rest of the album (out 10/3) has some of that Out Of The Cradle edge; few go insane fingerpicking like this guy.

Damn.. Rhiannon's comments are COMPLETELY off the mark. Lost his hitmaking "knack" by the time of the reunion (I'm assuming you mean the 97' 'Dance' reunion..). Anyhow, I think a lot of people missed how great "Say You Will" actually was and Buckingham hasn't really given a shit about making "hits" since 1977 if you ask me.
I will say that LB shines brightest when backed by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.. but his solo albums have always been interesting little ditties. There's some real intreaging stuff on "Go Insane" and "Out of The Cradle" especially. That being said.. take a listen to the 5 songs on his site a few times and they really start creeping up on you. I really think this album is going to be damn good. Damn good, I say.

Most of the people commenting here must have truly shitty taste in music if you can't appreciate Lindsey's brilliance. "Out of the Cradle" did not sell 17 copies, and even if it had it is still a better album than any of the crap Fleetwood Mac made after Lindsey left the band. He's so underrated and underappreciated, while I don't doubt there's more than a handful of rabid Paris Hilton and Justin Timerlake fans lurking around, just waiting for someone to say how much they suck. LB is a King, and he deserves any great mention he gets. He's a genius and, frankly, Fleetwood Mac are boring (and pointless) without him. I'll be buying his new album and seeing him on tour, and too bad for those who miss out. :)

and it's pretty fucking great.
i loved Out Of The Cradle and I think Under The Skin is a far superior album. Some of it reminds me of the more brilliant moments on the last two Fleetwood Mac tours. (i.e. the Buckingham songs). this new collection of songs is sort of a dream come true for all the fans that kept hoping he would forget about radio airplay and just make the record he wants.
Well - here it is! Can't wait for the tour.

Lindsay Buckingham was a major momentum (along with his girlfriend Stevie Nicks) that brought Fleetwood Mac out of obscurity into the mainstream.
Before these two, Fleetwood Mac had achieved little. As soon as they entered the scene Fleetwood Mac began hit making big time. Yes, the musicianship (drumming) of Mick Fleetwood was phenominal and added greatly to the overall effect of this band.
That being said, when Mick Fleetwood left to pursue a different route, (as many phenominal musicians are wont to do) Fleetwood Mac began the slide down and this was even with Stevie Nicks still in the band. When she finally left, the band was a dead horse.
Lindsay Buckingham was a phenominal artist both in pre production, post production, guitar work including lick picking that was at times indicicative of genious. Most extraordinary musicians become bored with repetition as they wish new roads even when those roads will not be travelled by the mainstream commercial society.
This album shows he is still a lyrical and musical force to be listened to by those who prefer a more progressive style and who also love the guitar fingerpicking.
I personally appreciate this album.
